Replacing the Carerra emblem, quick question!

The previous owner of my 2001 C2 Cab removed the Carerra emblem on the back. I ordered one from Suncoast and am ready to put it on but I'm not sure what to use to remove the wax from the paint so the emblem stays put. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

i would suggest a good glass cleaner (i like the aerosal kind). glass cleaner will strip the paint of all the waxes that are built up. that is what i have used for years now and i also used it when i removed my carrera badge for a 911 badge.

no problem, that is what we would use at the volvo delearship i worked at also. just be sure you use a nice soft cloth when doing it. i would recommed a microfiber cloth. just be sure to get some wax back on the paint once you are confident the new emblem is on there.

The new badge will be very sticky, I dont think you will have a problem. I have installed badges after wax and polishes with no problems on all my cars. I like to remove as much of the dirt and fading left over from the old badge.

Dawn dishwashing soap is great for removing wax.

dawn dishwashing detergent works great. Usually that's what I use to strip all the wax off the car when I want to "start" over

Also, there are two types of logos, depending on whether you want to put it in the upper or lower portion of the deck lid. Rob, if you want to put it back in the original location (upper locatoin for 1999-2001) you need 996-559-237-07-4PU (for 1999-2001 models -- this is the SILVER version). Go to the RennTech thread below, you'll see what I went through when I was sold the wrong emblem for my 2001 coupe. Also in there is a diagram showing where the emblem belongs (so you don't have to just eyeball it).

Use masking tape to ensure that your allignment is correct. The straight edge provides a good measuring point, you can stand back and take a good look, and use a level before the application.
