Car shipping help

Has anyone here used a car shipping service? I am moving to Colorado, from Florida and my company will cover the car's move in either an opne carrier (NO WAY) or in the moving trailer with my stuff. While the latter seemed like a good idea at first, it has become apparent from people that have gone through this that it is not. Basically things shift and hit your car or ub against it for, say 1200 miles

I am left with securing transport on my own. Have any of you shipped, not just a car, but your baby? Advice would be helpful.

Thank you!!

Cool

A buddy of mine recently moved fron NY to CA and had several collectible cars transported by this guy:

Thomas C. Sunday, Inc.

Prob not the cheapest....but they used a new enclosed transporter and did a great job.

Find a transport company that does the transportation themselves. There are a lot of companies who are just brokers and subcontract the work to someone else.

I've shipped cars using Passport Auto Transport, Horseless Carriage Transport, Reliable Auto Transport. The two that I like best were Reliable and Horseless Carriage.

Reliable's delivery....

Demois Trucking are are really good and I highly recommend them. They have their own trucks and drivers, as opposed to a brokerage, and had the best quote for enclosed transport.

Intercity also has a stellar rep, but with the hard times they've really dropped their rates. Their coast to coast quote a few months ago was ~$2000, now quoting around ~$1500

If you are prepared to spend $1-1.50/ per mile to ship it yourself, maybe alternative is to get a $3-400 custom shipping cover that attaches properly and won't abraid the finish then let your company put it on an open trailer. I've seen $200k cars come into Kruse auctions on open trailers.

Believe it or not, Fedex has an enclosed car hauling service which does a good job but costs less than the specialty guys. At least it's worth a look.

I used a company called muscle car inc. to get my Merc to me from Scottsdale to the middle of oklahoma. Good communication from the driver and no issues at all with the transport. I would use them again.

+1

I shipped my car from IL to TX for $1000 with DeMoise and was very happy with them. I would definitely use them again. They were also less expensive than Intercity.

Intercity does a great job, they shipped my 996 from Ohio to Mass. I once had my 968 put on the moving van with my household goods and it worked fine. I likewise had my 993 put on a moving van with my stuff as well and no issues.
