996 carrera vs c5 corvette

Can a stock 996 carrera run with a stock c5 base corvette (not a z06)?

guess that all depends on what you mean by run with it... track probably, dragstrip likely no, highway pulls again likely no. At the end of the day you would still have a 911 which I would rather have any day than a c5 vette regardless of which one is faster and I had three different c5's before moving to a 911 then a 911 turbo.

Thumbs down

First off, who cares? No matter how much people love comparing them, the reality is that there is NO comparison...

Second off, I don't know why the OP hasn't been banned yet. He's clearly a troll. Just look at all the stupid threads he's started asking "Will a stock 996 run with _____" .... What a d0uchebag. He probably drives a Mustang anyway.

Good call. The OP sounds like a child, maybe of high school age. He's just trying to score some beer.

In that race it would depend on the Driver... My buddy runs a 12.5 constant in his C5 Cab Auto, with R-Compunds are the 1/4 Mile

You must have an amazing job in high school to own a Porsche. More power to you. I wish I had that ability when I was that young.

+1 True Dat!

Also, don't forget how big the engine is in that Chevy. As they say, find someone your size. Even that, if you consider the monstrous engine capacity, and the hp it produces...it should really be returning way better performance. Shame on the engineering, really...

Actually, that's not true. Straightline figure for the 996 and the C5 are remarkably similar (look them up if you don't believe me). Certainly close enough that any drag race would come down to driver.

Once the road turns twisty, it's advantage Porsche

no real comparison, hell my friend had a C5 and loved riding in my M3 cause of the refinement and handling and we dreamed of 911's all the time. It's hard to compare a porsche to anything really. Luckily the C5 did not stay stock too long and after a new motor and gears and exhaust and what not she was about 450rwhp and we would trade rides for the day just so I could scare myself to death and he could take some corners without braking.
