Who has the under car Short shifter...

Which brand? and why that of the B&M/Porsche in the car SSK.

Did you put it in yourself and if so, can you do it with hand tools and a jack? How hard was it to put it in?

Thanks...
Corey...

I have the RUF same as the B&M underneath..
jack and I think a large T-40 or 50 hex driver to get one of the hex bolts off. Not to band of a install if your somewhat handy
maybe 30 minutes

I have the B&M under car kit and like it a lot. RUF and TechArt also have them, and the only difference I can see is the color--and they're 2 - 3 times the price.

On my 2004 Carrera it's not a DIY unless you have access to a lift, because the under car panels block access to the area you install it, so you need to remove a few which would be very difficult on a jack.

Corey,
I have it too. I had a local mechanic do it for me. It is not too hard, but you will need a lift and you have to remove a panel as stated above. Great mod, just get someone to do it for you. I think my guy charged me $40. Well worth it. You could use him, but you are in north/central NJ, right?

I'm by the jersey shore, but do spend a bit of time in central and northern NJ at customers, so I could stop by and wait for it to be installed. Where also did you get yours and how much, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks,
Corey

Corey,

I am in south jersey outside philly. I got it at Brandywine for $199, talk to Jay. I can't remember what it used to feel like, but I let a guy drive my car who is used to a vette. He said he could't believe how short and precise the shifter was. To me it feels normal.

I have the B&M under car kit also. Brandywine $199. Very nice feel, set at 30%. Not notchy.

Neil,

I'm down your way alot also. I'll be down in Pennington, in about 2-3 weeks for some meetings at Merril Lynch. Maybe we could meet for lunch or something...

Cheers,
Corey

That is not that close to Philly, about 1 hour away from me, a little tough for lunch though.

Do you work in Center City. I'm there too but since parking is usually a pain, I swap cars with my wife so I don't have to take the porsche

undercar B&M like it alot better than the one on top because the shift remains stock like as opposed to notchy.

Hey Corey,
No, I work outside Philly in Voorhees which is also where I live. Where do you live? It might be easier just to meet half way between on a Sunday or something.

Oh one more thing,

Do any of you guys with the under the car SSK, have a picture of it installed with the panel that needs to be removed in place, so I can see which panel it is and see if my jack-stands are tall enough for me to remove it.

I'd rather install the unit myself, since I want to un-install it everytime I go in for service.

Thanks,
Corey
