The videos from the track day at Lime Rock came in. This is the best one of the three because it has the data display on the top left:

I'll be honest - I'm a total sucker for this car. I love everything about it, and its new LM-Rs make an already outrageous car just that much more stunning. The car needed a good polishing after a season of track events and long road trips, so I helped him out with a healthy round of m105 on the roughest parts, and then a once-over with m205 topped with Collinite 845 to bring out the luster, and seal it for the coming winter.

Great weekend. Thanks for checking out the thread.

Thanks for the post greats pics and vid and that is one nice shine on the cab. I noticed that the speed on the track was mostly around 50 mph to up around 100 on the straight that just seems slow to me?
What kinda event? In any event looked like allot of fun!

Lime Rock was a PCA HPDE, and this was the slowest run group. By far. The last thing they were was fast, as it was all first-timers. However, the next run group were all the seasoned veterans, and those guys were all tearing it up harder than any single-marque group that I have seen run at Lime Rock.
I have photos from the day up on my 9/22 Lime Rock Park thread, which should still be on the first page of this forum if interested.
edit - Looks like it slipped off the front page:

Thanks for the link I totally missed that one, WOW you are good with a camera. It did look like it took some time just to apply the blue tape. What is your finish coat on your car ... it is stunning.

We more than kind of clowned ourselves with the tape, we pretty much knew it while we were applying it and in the end didn't even totally cover the most exposure to debris. The car looks comical in those pictures, so we were no doubt "that guy" at the track, but live and learn. It was our first track event, and hopefully the first of many more. The local PCA guys were very welcoming, and again it really was something to watch them tear the track up as the advanced run groups headed out. I cannot wait to get back next season.
Thank you for the kind words regarding the pictures, and the finish on the cab. I had just spent about 6 hours on the paint two days earlier, so I guess that mindset helped force the overtaping thing.
My process was as follows:
Meguiar's 105, Orange pad light cutting pad, PC set to 6
Meguiar's 205, White polishing pad, PC set to 5
I would only hit the harder problem areas with the 105: any scratches that look like they might either come out or be subdued on the rocker panels, wheel wells, and the front fascia and lower tail, as it is an aggressive polish and I try to spare as much clear as I can. I then go over the entire car with 205, which is the best, most versatile, and time-saving final polish that I have ever used. It finishes down spectacularly, with none of the micro-marring that I used to get with inferior product, and perfectly preps the paint for the next round of protectants.

This time, since I was "winterizing" the car, I added two coats of Collinite 845 Insulator Wax for its excellent clarity and durability, but if the wintry season was not upon us, I would likely have chosen something else. I recently tried the Optimum Finish Polish/Opti-Seal combo on the car, and I really liked the way it left the paint looking super soft and dripping wet, but I was unsold on its durability (which is also supposed to be fantastic). I will probably apply a few more coats of 845 as the weather grows more ominous, and once the hardtop is back on for good.

Lookin' good...great job at the track and with the detail.
