i have a becker monza 7886 (amber), have had it a ~4 years now on a 99 C2. It plays CD/MP3 and looks great (looks OEM).
I searched and believe they are no longer available and don't know of a replacement. You can try contacting http://www.swstereo.com/stdetail.php?prodID=11 for info (the page may not have been updated). That's where I got mine.

For non-double-din, a couple recent models from JVC & Kenwood have illumination that can be made to match. Some recent Blaupunkt models can also be made to match but I don't know where to get them now except from ebay (Crutchfield used to sell those). A model from Nakamichi also have matching illumination but there are reliability issues if you go to car stereo forums. Woofersetc had some close-outs on Nakamichis a month ago. I had a JVC with matching illumination but replaced it with a double-DIN Kenwood, also with matching illumination. The JVC feels cheap and has a small & almost unreadable display, so I got rid of it. It does work well, though, functionally.
very true, because most aftermarket amps have speaker-level inputs anyway.

if your not looking for sirius and ipod etc then keep your head unit and buy a cd changer, you can find them on ebay all the time
if you want ipod, sirius, nav etc then your better off buying a new head unit

the STOCK head unit has pre(rca) outputs and inputs, and you can intergrate an ipod and sirius + the ability to add external amps...PM me if you guys have questions, or want to know where to get the adapter cables....but you can get all the fetures you want with the stock head unit
