Purely cosmetic, but the 997 boxes are sure a lot nicer looking.

The 997 box is nicer

I had a evolution motorsports CAI and got rid of it because it hit my air pump, now I am pissed because they make a small bracket to move this pump I did not know about. Bad part is I called evo and they said nothing about this!! I now have a k/n intake and I run a dry AEM filter because I was afraid of the oil and the MAF sensor. Sorry I got a little off topic....

maybe I'm missing

I have a 2002 C4S, and I bought the 997 airbox...i just put it in, and it fit perfectly. No mods what so ever. Also, I bought the bracket, and I have no idea why it's needed.

guys, enlighten me?

All:

Wanted to share my experience. Had the EVO CAI with the bracket. Drove me nuts. The bracket hit engine mount and made terrible sounds whenever the 2nd air pump was on. Pulled it out and did a Fister Mod (the loud version) instead. But...that 997 intake box sure looks nice in the engine bay...

I mounted on my 2003 carrera 2 of the airbox of the 997 3.8, but it is not mounted because there snorkley 'pump of air. I put the airbox and snorkley of 996.

here's my install

So I have a 3.6L 997 airbox installed as you can see. And in one picture, i put my whole hand between the snorkel and the air-pump. Plenty of room. I do have to note, that I have a wide body c4s, I used my 996 snorkel, and my 996 rubber intake hose.

So here goes, enjoy...btw, the last picture, hitchhiker in the old 996 air box.

the evoms bracket relocates the injection pump more to the left of the bay... it makes room for the 997 airbox (997 snorkley and all ) to fit like oem.

2002 996 photo taken with the new iPhone4.

Just rotated the air pump clockwise 1" using existing screw holes.
Take advantage of the larger air intake to the box. This is more than a cosmetic upgrade.

Because I got the airbox on ebay for like 60 bucks, and it didn't come with either the snorkel or the intake hose
