997 airbox in 996?
#47
I just installed the 3.8 with no problem. There is little diff between the 3.6 and 3.8 airbox. I have installed the 997 box on a 2000/2002 996s. The only adjustment need was to rotate the air pump 10deg using existing holes. I would believe the above install used the second set of air box holes to mount box. This would be why the bolt does not line up.
I'm using the correct holes to mount the box. If you used the other holes it would be WAY off and not fit at all.
I can't figure how you folks move the air pump. Mine has three mounting points and if you use them all I can't see how mine can be rotated.

The air pump only needs to move a small amount. The top mount uses a rubber bumper so it’s flexible. On the bottom of the pump there is a rubber bumper which is removed and used to insert screw, this will rotate the air pump 10-15 degs. The rubber bumper is then placed in the previous screw hole. The third screw is not used.

Here is pic. I believe it is straight forward installation. You might want to search as a few guys here or other forums have done it
