Sideskirt Advice

I was looking for some advice/suggestions on the "best" sideskirt to use on a 02 C2? I'm not planning on changing the front spoiler or rear valence. Just want something to integrate the front and rear of car a little better.
Thanks!

yes - every vendor is a little different. I personally like the look of the factory - plus you cant beat factory fit and finish!

I recently did the GT3 RS looking skirts on my 99 C2. They have one line from lower front towards the upper rear, the more angular looking ones. See the 996 GT3 pic thread for lots of examples. I personally think they look better than the more rounded versions from Aero Kit I, just MY opinion thats why I put them on MY car. I also think they look better on the narrow bodies than the other skirts I've seen that round to the doors.

Everyone has their own taste, there really isn't right or wrong, maybe model year correct from factory, but not right or wrong. Keep in mind these aren't collector cars and you can easily remove them and sell them with your car or on ebay.

I also did the unthinkable and bought fiberglass. They fit just fine, no worries there, a local body shop finished them and installed them. If I had it to do over again, I would have finish sanded and prepped them at home, dropped them off to be painted only and installed them myself. They would have turned out much better and I would utimately have gotten a lot more satisfaction out of them. They don't sit perfect and every time I see them it's were my eye goes first. Doh!

The car rides on RUF 19's and I did the ROW M030 suspension install. The side skirts make the car appear to be a little lower, not in the wheel well obviously, they look snug there anyway, not slammed but snug, but more along the body. The rockers definately make the thing look more modern and more bad _ss. Glad I did it, as usuall, I now wonder why I waited so long to do this mod.

Good luck with your own decision, it'll be that much more your car when you're done.

The factory Aerokit I vs Aerokit II are the two OEM parts that will fit on your 996. I've got a MkII 2002 targa that came fitted from the factory with Aerokit I side skirts (it was an early production 2002, built in '01, so I don't think the AerokitII skirts were out yet). The look of the Aerokit I is more rounded, whilst the Aerokit II skirts are more angular.

Take a look at these pics (no affiliation with site) for an example:
http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalo..._aero_kit.html

Either will work well, just be aware that the rounded look of the Aerokit I skirts will not perfectly match with the angular front bumper of the AerokitII if you decide to add that in the future (Aerokit I front bumper will not work on your MkII 996).

Thanks!

I have had the exact same considerations regarding my '02 targa - I went for the MKII skirt.... I personally think these skirts match the 996 gen II the best....

I totally underestimated the install of the skirt - so had one of my buddies who had a paint shop help me.... the trim and fitting can take a lot of time depending on the quality of the skirt....

Was your skirt an original Porsche part?
If it was I thought they were supposed to be a "perfect" fit?

Talking .....

My skirt was from CSR - it's a copy of the make II skirt... the fitment of the skirts was okay - but my buddy recommended that the skirt was installed and fitted on the car before he painted it.... this is to make the skirt "blend" in with the car more properly and to make it look factory.... The skirt is installed with some kind of special glue (can't remember the name)

I will see if I can send you some pics of the final result when I get the car back....

Here are a couple of pics from the fitment process (sorry for the quality)
