Thumbs up!- IPD Plenum

I just wanted to express my satisfaction with this often controversial part. I've had the car for about 2.5 years and have only upgraded the "audio" portion of the ride- stereo system and exhaust. I have probably one of the heaviest and slowest model in the line up 2003 C4 Tip Cab and although I'm not a speed demon by nature I was looking to add a little pep to the droptop.

I had the plenum put on earlier this summer as I mainly drive this car on weekends that I am at home I really wanted to provide an honest assessment throughout the various driving conditions.

Initial Impressions:

Side by side stock plenum vs. IPD plenum- physically you can immediately see there was a lot of thought that went into developing the IPD both design and materials. The IPD plenum was well made fit and finish and surprisingly light in weight.

City driving-

The car is more responsive-the tip trans prior to the install always felt a little late and lethargic when shifting, now it's quicker and smoother. When I step on it actually goes where before it would hesitate.

Highway driving-

Definitely feel a difference from a "butt" dyno standpoint. Between 4-5k rpm there is an appreciable amount of difference- the car pulls stronger and quicker. Another benefit that I did not expect is when cruising around town and not stomping on the gas pedal "driving aggressively" I notice an improvement in gas mileage!

Conclusion-

I would recommend this part with no reservations and believe in this case the aftermarket alternative improves upon the OEM part and is well worth the investment. Similar to "yanking" the BOSE OEM speakers and upgrading them to Morel separates- it has made the time I spend in my vehicle much more pleasurable and enjoyable!

That's my $0.02!

I love mine too! I picked up 26 rwhp in the mid-range power. It's a must do mod for any N/A 996.

Do you have any dyno sheets that you can post? 26rwhp in the midrange is something that would be worth the cost.

DJHILL, do you have dyno report? Do you really feel that it is worthwhile upgrade? I have a 40th AE too but I just can't wrap my head around this seeminly minor mod giving 26hp on any engine let alone an NA engine? I mean that is more than full exhaust or intake upgrades on many engines.

Hello All,
We have been installing the IPD plenums for a while now here at BBI Autosport with great results. As stated by IPD, there is a 100% money back guarantee without restocking fees. We also honer that guarantee.
Bellow are some dyno results as requested.
Enjoy

As for the X-51 911, I will get the dyno sheet posted asap. We saw 24 WHP in the mid-range and 11 WHP peak.

Please feel free to PM me and I will get back to you for special pricing.

Sorry about the confusing numbers, this dyno was done in Austria.

What about a 2002+ 3.6L or even better an X51 engine dyno?

Search is your friend!! When these first came out there were a plethora of posts here, on Rennlist and Renntech. Seemed to be a lot of debate over the actual results of the install. Look at the results of dyno's that were done by independent shops that were not involved in the sale of the plenums. Overall the results were all over the board.

Many of the owners that have installed them do seem to really believe in them and enjoy them.

Can't find the price on BBI's website. The used to be $800-$900.

I don't have any dynos to back my claim. I would love to see one with the X-51 motor. I think especially with the x-51 motor, it is a worthwhile upgrade coupled with a unrestricted exhaust system. I could not belive the power gain I received with better air movement. She's gotta breath!!

Thank you for the quote BBI~
Will this require the ECU to be flashed?
IS this a bolt-on without further mod?
Thank you in advance...!

Absolutely,

I hope that was not too brief.
