If you go the resistor route, mount them not on the taillights, but on the body of the car behind the taillights. The resistors get hot and can melt the plastic housing of the taillights.

well after 3 shipments and numerous hours working on these. I've finally got mine installed and working correctly.

all 3 sets I got from amazon (redline) had broken lenses in each. After going through 3 sets I was able to get a driver and passenger side that work and were not broken. I had the fast flash and PSM/Brake failures and had to do the relay and resistor fix.

all in all it took me a month to make this work. I don't think I would go this route again.

however -- they do look good after a lot of effort by me. And the fitment was off as well - but I did get them to fit after using some double sided tape and playing with it for an hour or so.

hmmmm, never got any cracks and fitment issues with my set (which i paid around $500 for). cracks due to shipping? or maybe seller got the defective ones or what they call the B-grades or rejects. that's why they are being sold at a price almost half the usual.

definitely the way they were packed -- the box edges broke nearly every corner off.

Perhaps the sell broken/defective batches, thus the cheap price. It is too much of a difference being the same product.

they were sold as new. It was really how they were packaged. The ends on several of the lenses broke and one had a crack on the inside(nearest the engine lid).

I meant a batch of new "seconds". Perhaps damaged during shipping from factory in Asia. Who knows.

yeah I don't know -- i'm glad i finally got a pair that work and aren't broken -- it was quite the hassle though. I don't know who would buy and put on a broken tail light......

yoopmqt - did you have to put in load resistors to avoid the PSM ABS error?
Did you also replace the flasher relays?

Thanks - I have a Mk2 as well and just ordered the ones on Amazon - we'll see!

I didn't get any PSM or ABS errors, but they did flash fast. I put in a new flasher relay and it fixed it.

I did not add any resistors.... the new relay took care of everything.

Thanks - a bit of a pleasant surprise given other Mk2 owners have had such problems with these...

Did you buy the ones called "redlines" from Amazon?

Finally - where'd you buy the flashers?

Thanks!

I believe I did get the redlines.... I definitely got them from Amazon.

I got the flasher from www.superbrightleds.com (CF13GL-02)

You'll only need one. The relay panel is to the left of the clutch on that side wall. The relay you need to replace is on the top row, 3rd from the right. It's kind of hard to see it. There are some tall relays near it. If you turn your turn signal on and feel up there, you'll feel it clicking.

Wow you're awesome! Just to be sure about the vendor you bought from (even though I think they're all the same) - did you pay $300 or under for the set?

Thanks
