Price Check: 2002 C4S, et al.
Hi Guys,
So I'm pretty much down to a few BUY candidates and want to get your opinion on price. Please let me know what you'd offer on each of the below:
2002 C4S, minimal options. MSRP $84k
18k miles
$38k
2003 C4S, not sure on sticker
27k miles
$37k
and the last 2 just for the hell of it:
2001 turbo
48k miles
$37k
2003 turbo, MSRP $144k
23k miles
tiptronic
$52k

52K for 03 Turbo with that low mileage is a pretty good deal - *if* you've got your heart set on excessive performance (lots of us do). If you don't, then it's not worth the extra dollars.
Otherrwise go for a later model 997 for the same 52K.

I just bought my 2005 C4S with some upgrades for 46k in Seattle. Upgrades include PPS9 suspension, PSE OEM,OEM carbon fiber interior upgrade, 14k miles never tracked, ran in the snow , zero body damage scrapes or scoffs.
Hope this helps. By the way love my car, just drove it today.

Personally I would get the Turbo, besides the year/mileage, you are getting quite a bit more with the Turbo for the same price range as the C4S.
You are getting the more robust block so you don't need to worry about the IMS as much as the NA(non GT3) motors.
You won't look back and "wish" you had the more powerful version later.
If you get an '01 model, just make sure you don't leave on those "bumperettes" that look like @ss.
But if you're looking to spend $40k+, I'd have to contemplate a 997 as others have stated.
my $.02

Got an 04 c4s cab, minimal mods, 55K miles, for about 40K WITH a CPO warranty.
If your patient and picky, your perfect deal is out there.

Best advise I ever got on this forum was don't rush, dont cheap out on the PPI, and enjoy the search

If I were you I would go with 996 Turbo if you are choosing between 996 C4S or Turbo. You can drive a fast car slowly, but it would be harder to drive slower car fast. aside from that, you don't need to worry about IMS issue...
The '01 Turbo, if in really good shape, looks like a reasonable deal.
It appears to have been driven a reasonable amount. The other three may not have been driven enough (only 2000-3000 miles/year) to keep 'em happy and healthy.
As others have noted, no IMS or RMS worries either with the turbo.

Awesome, thanks guys! I think I found a good turbo (albeit quite a distance away). Assuming the PPI checks out, I'll pick it up. It's priced right and I'm comfortable with it. I'll let you know how it goes.
2001 turbo
