I actually don't think he was seriously racing you. (I claim the 5th amendment, just incase traffic police are reading this) Most of us don't bother with ricers (no offense), we usually play around and even let you pass unless you get a smug look of "I just smoked a porsche" and then we just casually remind you that porsche was wrong, the stock 996 can pull to more than than 177mph and yes a non-turbo carrera can take a turn or apex at 20+ more mph than you expected without batting an eye.

You should see what the 996 turbo drivers do to us when they have fun

One question here. What does the term rice/ricer mean to you guys?

How do you go about saying someone's a ricer or someone's car is riced out even without looking at it? BTW, no offense taken.

I pretty much figure that most porsche owners will ignore me. I've ran into a few turbo models and they don't even turn to look at me when I honk or rev. I don't try to race them in every occassion. If we're stuck in traffic, I just honk and give them a thumbs up even when I'm driving my POS beater.

BTW, I see puffs of grey smoke coming out of his exhaust and see the rear end duck down everytime there was room for him to floor it. I knew he was going WOT. I'm not trying to put down porsches in any way. But a race is a race, right?

I have no doubt a stock 996 is capable of the things that you've mentioned.. but who said I had a stock supra? My supra isnt anything to brag about but i did dyno 418rwhp/418rwhp few months ago and comparing that to a stock non turbo 996 i have the advantage(power wise)

Hey Ricer,

Okay so you've got a turbo -- whoop-di-do. Let's be straight here. You're not here for any other reason than to try to pick or prove something. Obviously you feel inadequate driving a ricer. Quite frankly you're comparing something NA to a turbo. Okay, so you've got more HP. Wow, that's good. but lets compare your ricer to a P-Car Turbo. NO CONTEST. I don't call them ricers, I call them MIERDA. Go to the Ricer forum why don't you or buy a Porsche 996. What a joke!

Ciao.

Hmmm, what do we concider ricers... Ricers are basically people who take a 7k car and stuff 8k worth of junk(usually in useless ground effects in multiple states of primer and testors model paint on their calipers) into it to make it go faster or sound louder. They insist on racing with every fast looking car on the road and have the attitude that nothing is faster.

That being said I've seen some very hot NSX's and Skylines that really excite me. While I've owned porsche's since I was 17, I have also concurrently owned Nissan's and Toyotas and they are fine cars for the price, it's not the idea of a non-german car that we talk about here, but the attitude of some of the drivers/owners.

Cheers,
Corey

P.S. we hope one day you will join us in the joy of porsche ownership, it's truly a great community and you meet some very nice people.

Why are you all being so harsh? He's already admitted that he loves Porsches and doesn't doubt their abilities, he was simply wondering whether the particular Carrera that he raced was a member on the board. And if this Carrera went with him up to ~150 mph then he was definetly getting down on it whether he was at WOT or not he was not just putterin along.

If a p-car owner posted that he raced say a Ferrari or Lambo and was excited to see if they were on the board would you bash them? I don't think so. Don't let a select few here discourage you, this board is almost completely full of wonderful guys and girls.

BTW, Ducky I love Supras post some pics if you have the chance but better put them in Off-Topic section before you get flamed more, they are pretty rare in my area, only about 7-10 total. So whenever I see one I try to give them a thumbs up or just slow down and admire it, but then again I dont own a Porsche...

Actually just to confirm Kraftwerk, doing 150mph itsn't really getting down (5th amendment disclaimer), I've been on the PA turnpike at somespots and been in 6th gear and noticed I creeped up to about 150mph, but here's the scarry part... looked down at my speedo because I was passed by something going much faster than I was.... A sports bike and looked down to see how fast he was going and said, woops maybe this is a little too fast for casual driving(It's happened to me more than once). Then again I've been passed a lot doing 120mph(back in the roof down boxster days) on the PA turnpike by guys shooting by around 130mph in Audi's and VW's(never drive more than 120 in a boxster the wind noise is too loud since you can't leave the windstopper in, but it is fun on occasion)

I'm just teasing you...Ducky. Sorry I didn't make it clear enough that I was.

But, honestly, I don't know if he was really "on" it. Because at 140mph...they is plenty of room left. At least...if I had ever driven that fast...it would be. But, you know...I don't speed or anything, so I can't speak from personal experience.

whoop di doo ha~! uh huh...

Can't you read? I have nothing to prove. I'd still post to find out who the driver was even if i lost a race. I'm simply a porsche fan. when did i was my car was better than any of the porsches? btw, my car has two turbos

I can't afford a porsche right now, so i guess i'll have to deal with being a ricer till i own a porsche. boo hoo for me~!

One day...one day i'll own a porsche turbo....but right now...it's simply impossible to own one..i'll just drool over one everytime i see on.

your mentality of a ricer is true. Now, that doesnt apply to me though. I wouldnt call exhausts, boost controllers and etc worthless mods. I have no body kits whatsoever...100% stock bodied.

Sorry for the confusion, I know your alls cars are definetly fast enough to go well over 150, but from his depiction of the event it sounded like he got up to it when both cars were only going a little over 100 then it took off and he took chase. Usually, at least with my personal experience if your cruising along at ~100 and take it up to speeds that high, you don't do so slowly.

I didn't take anything to offense..i was just confused cuz you kept on saying she instead of him..

the problem with having fast cars in jersey..(at least local to me) you rarely get a chance to go past 120mph...the roads get ****ter every year and traffic sucks.

Happy motoring.

Robyn, you speed never.... I don't think you ever take it out of 1st or 2nd gear(to keep it in that sweet fabspeed bypass exhaust tone)
