speed bumps & low car don't mix, You'll get this

my car took a dump on Sunday after I drove over a speedbumps..All I heard was a clunk & about 30 sec later out come 9 qts..I bought one of those magnetic drain plug & it sticks out about 1/4 inch instead flush to the pan like the oem plug. when it hit the speedbumps. it shove the drain plug right up the pan & ripped a big hole..had to towed it to Rac Performance waiting for a new pan...I was so p/o at myself but what can you do..just bad luck I guess.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

You couldn't take the bump sideways; to avoid this? Might want to try it next time, possibly?

I didn't think about that at that time, plus there was incoming traffic..this bump was a bit higher than most bump I drove thru with out bottom out.

Two things... first upgrade to the X51 oil pan since yours is toast. second, you can purchase a skid plate to protect it from happening in the future...

Cheers

I thought about upgrading it to the X51 pan but he said it will sit even lower than the oem pan..He also mention if I don't track my car..which I don't then I shouldn't need it.

CORRECTION...I did upgraded to the X51 oil pan..he thought I wanted the extender to the pan which sits lower .

thanks...I might look into that KW...I think the main cause was the drain plug was sticking out so far down..going back to stock this time.

Wheelman is infamous around these parts
Sorry to hear about that..man that sucks. Do you have lowering springs or a whole suspension set-up? I want to lower my car but incidents like this always change my mind.

Good luck and hope she's back on the road soon!

your car is too low then. my 996 stock would not scrape anything in the back even if i tried. you should have 5" of ground clearance back there on stock setup.
