My Porsche pulls to the left.....why?

I have searched the forums and didnt find anything that can help. Let me tell you the issue.
When i 1st purchased my 996 the steering was great, alighnment felt spot on. After a couple of months i changes the rims & tires and slowly but surely the alighnment started to pull to the left. Ive done some research on this and even spoke to a couple of mechanics with mixed thoeries.
First i heard that my alighment was off, then i had a mechanic tell me my front tires are causing the car to pull left. Which is it? I'm trying to find the issue before i start spending money on an alighnment or even new front tires. Anyone ever have this issue, how can it be fixed?
Or should i just bite the bullet and pay for an alighnment and if that doesnt work, buy new front tires.........

Do you still have your old rims & tires? If so, change them back and see if it is better.

I suspect your alignment might have changed slightly with the new tires. You may need more mileage on them. However, check your new tires to see if they have any unusual wear.

This happened to me. I had an aggressive camber setup that wore the inside of my front tires. I then changed the alignment to a more street set up with the same tires, but the car tracked oddly and pulled slightly. This corrected itself after about 2000 miles.

It could be either. Mileage on the odometer would be a factor here. It may also be worn suspension components. I would take a look at control arm, bushings, etc. With that in order, then I would begin with an alignment. Did you mount new or used tires on your new rims? Are the rims OEM or aftermarket? What is the offset? I believe we may need more information. Good luck.

also check your tire pressure, if you lose pressure in one and not the other it will also pull.

My guess: Probably needs another alignment. I've got $1 that the front left tire now has close to 0 toe, or even toe out. Maybe you bumped something in the road.

Let me know if I owe you a buck

Set tire pressures the same as when the alignment was done or OEM spec. See if it still pulls on a smooth level road. If it does swap the front wheels & tires. If it still pulls the same way it needs to be realigned, maybe the new wheels have a different offset or it just got knocked out of alignment.

unfortuneately i sold my old tires so i cant test other tires. and the current tire pressure is the same in front tires. i gues my first test is to rotate the front tires. i also read about something called dragging (when brake caliper lockup and one brake is constantly rubbing). ever heard of this.
thanks guys

No offense, but this is like doing diagnosis of an illness on Google... If you don't have a lot of knowledge or experience on fixing cars I'd recommend taking it into a professional to resolve the issue correctly before you hurt yourself.... or worse yet someone else.

Cheers
