Wheel offset question
I have a chance to buy a set of BBS RS-GT off this guy's track Boxster and was wondering if they would fit before I shoot him an offer. I have a 2000 996 with the 18x8 and 18x10 Turbo Twists. I am not sure of the offset. His rims are 18x8 50 mm offset front and 18x9.5 48mm offset rear. I just want to make sure I can clear the brakes and wont rub. Thanks
The fronts should work. I am more concerned about the rears.
I think they will work assuming your factory rears have a 65mm offset. My OEM Lightweight was 18x10 with a 65mm offset.
I replaced them with 18x10.5 with a 60mm offset. The net effect was a 53.65mm offset compared to the 65mm factory wheel or +11.35mm increase (pushed out toward the fender). This fits and looks almost flush to the fender. I use 285/30 r 18 tires.
For comparsion, the GT3 wheel uses 18x11 with a 63mm offset. The net effect is a 50.3mm offset or a 14.7mm increase from the factory 65mm.
The ones you are looking at are .5" less wide. The net effect is 54.35mm offset or a 10.65mm increase from the factory 65mm.
Some have added 15mm spacers to the factory 65mm offset 18x10" wheel for a net 50mm offset.

Need some experienced advice...
I have 2001 C2 Cab and it came with the Turbo Twist 18" (18x7.5 front and 18x10.5 rear).
I read all the threads about this topic and confused about the offset and what fits. I came to the conclusion that most things will fit, but should you put sizes bigger than OEM. It seems that the readings of the car were based on the OEM wheel/tire sizes.
I do plan to do more DE's too and the car is so balanced that I want to stick with the original sizes. My current wheels are in great shape, but I am just bored with them.
I found some Boxster wheels that are same as OEM, but the ones I really like are 18x11. I called Tirerack and the guy there told me that he didn't recommend me pushing my Michelin PSS from the 18x10.5 I have now to the 18x11. He said that it would look stretched.
So, what I want to know is the 18x11. What is the worse thing that can happen. He told me that i can up to 18x9 but not go 18x11.
Confused. That is the only size they have. Thoughts?

What tires do you have on the 18x10.5? Because it is ok to stretch those to the 11's, its only half an inch. Besides if you're doing DE's, a tighter fit in the rear is a great feel for the DE events. I run a 275 on an 11 for the street and a 285 for the track. Thats with a low offset wheel too, like 30's & 40s... I also run 2 degrees negative of camber for the track...
