Spoiler Light Indicator
Spoiler Light Indicator
Is there a way for me to permenantly turn the red spoiler indicator light off? I talked to the dealership and they said that anytime you switch out the motorized stock trunk lid to a non-motorized one, the light will become a permanent thing. My car has the pre 7/2001 aerokit package on it.
Is this true or is the dealership just trying to get me off the phone?
I can't reply to threads yet, so thanks ahead of time for the info!

There are two oem harnesses that avoid this problem, -51 when a brake light is not utilized(50$), and -04 when you do use a light(100$). Check out the part no.'s, the suffix #'s above should correspond. I'll try and dig up the complete numbers but those should suffice, just ask for the harness that ends in -51 for example.
Does anyone know what wiring changes you can make turn off the light without buying a new harness. I am sure it's something simple like jumping 2 wires together so the cluster thinks it sees the wing up when it's over 76mph... But which 2 wires???
Looks like I found the answer in the 03/00 TSB: Jumper between pin 2 and pin 5 of plug X23 will make a contstant signal of the spoiler extended to the control module and the warning light will not light.

there is also a thread with some info here https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...=failure+light
was going to attempt this, since I also have the spoiler failure light, but I'm getting conflicting opinions on how to correct it properly. Does there happen to be a DIY floating around w/ pics and part #'s?

its all about the wiring harness, when i purchased the carrera wing for my car i was fortunate to recieve the deck lid and harness, it plugged directly in, I was advised to disconnect the battery first in order for the computer to recognize the new spoiler, no problems since then
There is a thread on renntech that details the jumper method. The best, cheapest, fastest way to fix this is with the correct harness as outlined, jumping is a hassle. BTW, no need to undo the battery either.
