Fresh interior...

So, I picked up my car from Leather Menders in Austin, TX today. What an improvement!!

They re-textured the wheel and dyed the entire interior. Seats, console and doors! It looks like a new interior and i couldn't be happier.

Looks great!

Just curious, how much did that set you back?

Did you have some parts, like the brake handle, full of "black dirt" from handling? Did they remove that too?

Wow!

What does the process involve? Did you have to take out all the seats, or they just dye in place?

Now THATS a quality job. I'm surprised they can do that quality of work for that price. Well done.

Over the border labor? That's a great price. A full leatherique rejuvination kit isn't that much less once you figure in all the material costs.

This was done at a very reputable shop in Austin, TX "Leather Menders" It took me 3 weeks to get in, so the business is good which means they can keep costs down with volume. I remember seeing a sign in the office stating 23 years of service in Austin...

I wish I had a shop like that here. It's one thing to get a great price but with 23 years in the business, you have the piece of mind of being able to go back for any issues down the road or if they offer some kind of warranty on their work. This can't be said of the many fly-by-night type businesses you often encounter these days.

BTW, was the dye an exact match and did you see any bleed over areas? Were there any cracks in the leather that needed to be filled in prior?

I've done the Leatherique kit on a different car before and know how time consuming it can be if done right.

Anybody, any recommendations for a similar shop/service in SoCal? I need to do it. Boxster red interior. Hesitant on doing it myself.

tarzan..

I acutually got lucky and googled for "leather repair" I made a few calls and asked for reviews as many of you suggested from another post. Im sure it is something of a DIY, but still id let a professional deal with it.

Here is a shot of the wheel i posted on this board two weeks ago. UGH!! should have done this when i bought the car. The front bolster had several cracks and surface tears that simply look like "broken in" leather! Im sure you can find someone in SoCal.. in fact, I'll call my cousin that lives in Bev Hills.. he is a car nut and might have an idea...
