Clutch might be going.

My car is making a strange noise when I step on the clutch. I think I might need to have clutch replaced. Car is going to shop on Monday. Let me know what to expect from a cost perspective so I don't get taken for a ride. It has about 50,000 highway miles on it.
Thanks,
Dan

If getting it replaced, do the IMS bearing, rear main seal and air oil separator while you're in there!

Consider doing the AOS then... Much easier when the tranny is dropped. It's only like a $50 part but could cost you big $$$ in labor WHEN it fails at a later time.

aos

fyi - i asked about replacing the aos as part of the clutch job. the shop tested the vacuum and did not recommend replacing the aos since the pressure was fine.

Sounds like you have a good shop! FYI AOS is $100+ for the part.

I had a small oil leak in the AOS breather hose about 6 months ago. I also asked about replacing the AOS but they did the same test and it was fine. Last weekend the AOS crapped out. $1150 to replace (54k miles). You may want to go ahead and have it done since the AOS is one of those repairs you will have to deal with sooner or later. IMHO.
