No, but I'm in Florida so I use either 0-40 or 5-40, and not Mobile One! I use Motul, Total, but have switched to DT-40 in 5w-40 which I will stick to.

Best advice considering the cold temps, check the owners manual or call a local dealer.

I live in a cooler climate, and I use 05W-40 all year. I'm currently running Schaeffer Supreme 9000.

It may mess up the vario cams. Check out Joe Gibbs Driven DT40, it was made incombination with flat 6 innovations, LN Engineering and Gibb specifically for Porsche flat six engines.

I'm living proof that it will mess up the cam actuator. Mobile 1 0w40 will not create any sludge other brands may and if it happens $2800 for a new actuator and solenoid. I learned my lesson.

Seems kinda silly to consider using an oil that goes against recommendation just because you have a bunch of it..the upside is you have a lot of it, the downside is $2800 in new actuators and solenoids, or worse...Or...about $90 bucks for the right stuff...I'd spend the $90.

the info in the manual has been updated (below is current as of 2010). 0W40 is approved for all temp ranges

Well you can use whatever you want, it's your car just to be pissed if you damage your engine! If you are still unsure, call the dealer and talk to service.
I'm sure you could sell the oil on craigslist though.

dealers put only certain type of oil grade to your car. Let's say you have a '00 carrera with 10.000 miles they put same grade, if you have '00 carrera with 100.000 miles they still put the same grade. This happenede to me. I was told that on high mileage cars you have to use thicker grade of oil than the certain type.

you can always exchange the 5w30 for the 0w40. that's what i would do. most auto supply store will allow you to do an even exchange.

All Mobile 1 is not the same. Not just viscosity. Check out the detailed spec sheets. 5w30 is not designed to be as high performance an oil as 0w40. Great for your Ford Fusion

Gee don't tell my 02 Boxster with 262K miles or my 03 Turbo with 101K miles they can't run right on anything but "high mileage" oils.

Both are currently running Mobil 1 0w-40 and are doing just fine.
