Plastidip a Porsche..........Yup

I know some puristst are going to murder me, but I got the urge to change my car's color a few months back. So I hopped on www.dipyourcar.com and ordered their Pro Car Kit with Matte White and on Friday went to work.

I actually really like it. I need to take some more professional looking pics, but just wanted to throw these up. Don't worry guys it's all reversable and actually looks pretty good.

You know, I think it looks really good. I would have done the roof panel too, but that's just me. BTW....looks like you forgot to clean the 3rd taillight of overspray.

Well, you didn't give out your address but have shown your license plate so give me some time to have my popo buddy look up your plates and arrange a hit on you as soon as someone responds to my ad on Soldier of Fortune magazine.

Going from black to white, how many coats or gallons did you have to use? I wonder if someone touches your car with oil/dirty hands, how easy that will wash off without tearing into the rubberized coating?

Never thought I'd see a turbo owner doing this but if it makes you smile an keeps you cool at the same time, more power to ya.

Please update this post 3-6 months from now. I'd be curious as to wear and tear on something like this, especially since you're down in GA and probably encounter your fair share of bug splats.

Always chuckle at people who seem to think showing a license plate is a big no-no... it's not like everyone else can't see it driving around you know.

Looks pretty good, but I to would wonder about the long term care.

We will see what it looks like in a few months. I'm probably going to redo some sections or spray on a few more gallons. But so far I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Looks good, but I just hated the idea of putting lacquer thinner on my OE paint.... Some have said that once you peel it off there is some damage to the clear coat that is caused by the lacquer needed to dilute the plastidip....

looks good, hope it holds up long term and doesn't damage the paint underneath..

[QUOTE=HIX;3665333]spray on a few more gallons. QUOTE]

You didn't answer me directly but I'm guessing you have already sprayed on a few gallons to start with? Good thing you have a turbo...

Looks good man. I am big on plastidipping rims and what not. I did my truck in matte black but ripped it off after the last coat was really textured, the gun did not work right. As far as the price of this compared to wrapping your car. I think a good wrap is around $3,000 and the pro car kit of plastidip is under $400.

How long do you plan to keep it on? My friend Plastidip his hood and damaged the clear coat. His paint is white and turned yellow.
