I prefer a light tint too - mine's at 35% - 3M light smoke. It's actually what most automakers use for their brochure photos.

 

I do the lightest tint all the way around for consistency of the look and heat blockage. Never had an LE issue since '06 doing that on 4 different cars.

I also do a darker for the sunroof and a band across the windshield header. It really helps.

Interested in looking at the non-tint new technology too. ESPECIALLY if it got approved for windshields!

 

My C2 came from the West Coast and I guess they allow more than 35% tint, the TT has 35% only and it looks nice. I think it depends on the exterior color too. Black looks great with darker windows, and I think silver or light gray both look better with a lighter tine imho.
