Any good 996's out there?

I recently purchased a 2002 911 s2 with a very clean history, all recommended services and 38,000 miles. I had an independent inspection that cleared it as a very clean car with the exception of one small main seal/gasket leak (had it repaired) and it's now sitting in my garage being beautiful until spring.

Has anyone out there bought a 2002 996 that has given them pleasure instead of nightmare repair headaches? Are there any good 996's (not Turbo) out there?

I'd like to hear from you!

I have a 2002 C4S that just turned 120,000 miles on the odometer. It has been my daily driver for years, in all conditions. It's the best, most reliable and most enjoyable car I've ever owned.

I've got a '99 996 that I've had for just shy of a year now. It is a great car that has brought me immeasurable amounts of joy. I've done quite a few DIY jobs on it. The only issue that was required was the WP that went at about 82k, other than that, it's been a great car. GL with your new ride...btw, post pics or it never happened!

Cheers,

DS

I'm asking the same question. I'm in the market for a nice 2002-2004 996 and the ones for sale locally aren't what I'd class as good!!

Talking Thank you!!!!!

A hearty Thank you to those who have responded to my hysteria.
Especially you Dennis @ 120,000 K.
Keep those positive reviews coming. I was worried that I had made an expensive mistake. I have wanted this beauty for so long and online shopped for 2 years before pulling the trigger.I'll run right downto the garage and kiss my baby!

1999 996 C2 Cab with 63000miles. Had it since 44000miles 20 months ago. When bought had loud transmission. Changed via extended warrenty. Apart from that, this is the best car I ever had. I am 71 years of age so I've had lots of cars and DIY preventative maintenance. Easy to work on. Fast as **** off a shovel. I love it. I sit and stare at it with a big **** face smile on my mush. I have driven it like I stole it trying to make it break down before the warrenty runs out. It refuses... best buy ever... thank God to the scare mongering or I wouldnt be driving the best sports car in the world.

Ownership is a joy, not just for me but for my kids (they pump their fists with glee in the back seats). 87,000+ miles (many of those at the limit of adhesion).

I agree with all the posts, I've had no issues and drive the snot out of mine! Most of the problems with cars in general come from NOT driving them. Mine sits in the garage and is driven on weekends and 1-2 times a week to work. I love this car!

Now for my problem: There's this Sheriff's deputy that keeps moving his speed trap so I have to stay one step ahead He saw me the other day and smiled and shook his finger at me to pull over Turns out, he was in the Caymen S I was racing this past weekend AND he lives close to me, we talked a bit (I asked him how he liked the rear end of my C4S since that's all he saw) had a few laughs and hit the road...nice guy.

'03 X51 with ~60K miles on the clock. Had it for ~3yrs now. No problems whatsoever. It's my go-to vehicle May-November. (Can't wait for May!)
