Rear Spolier stays up after battery change

Guys,

Batter ran flat. Jump started the P car and got a new battery fitted. Don't know why but radio still working, not reset needed. However when I parked the car I noted the rear spoiler did not come down. Never happened before.

Has anyone experienced the same? Any cure?

Did you take it up to 75mph and then back ? This might reset.

Lowered it by pushing the switch by the footwell. Will check tomorrow to see if it comes up over 75 m/hr.

What year is your 996?

Only on the Mk 1 (1998 to 2001) The rear spoiler is provided with a spoiler system. Every engine start up, the rear spoiler warning light will come on the dash. Directly under the speedo and rev counter. The system checks itself as the car moves up to 4mph and if the spoiler is going to work correctly (deploy at 75mpg and retract at 37mph), the light then goes out and STAYS out. That is our only indication that the spoiler is working correctly as we cannot see the spoiler when driving. If it is not going to work properly then the light will stay ON. If during a deployment at 75mph it does not complete the movement within 15 seconds, the spoiler motor will cut out to save damage, plus the warning light will come back on the dash to indicate a fault. The Mark 1 also has the manual rocker switch function by the left leg. One push on the top of the rocker to deploy. Push and hold the lower part of the rocker to retract or part retract the spoiler ...

Mine is 1998 euro spec. I checked the owner manual found the details about the rear spoiler. However I couldn't find the spoiler warning light.
I could see a bit of spoiler when it is up. Just need to find a open road in the daytime to try it again!

The warning light as you switch on the ignition looks like the side rear of the car with an arrow pointing to it from the right. That is the only indication you have. If the spoiler is going to work as expected, it stays on until you move and goes out at approx. 4mph. If something is wrong with the spoiler system the light will stay on as you drive and the spoiler will not come out at 75mph.

Tried it this morning. Saw from the rear view mirror the spoiler came up after 120 km/hr and it came down when slowed down (roughly below 40 km/hr). So it still functions properly. However I just could not see any indication from the dash when start up. Thank you all for the advice.
