Whats the best header and exhaust combo?

I own a 2000 C2 Tip and I just added the evo filter and I love it. But I need some help figuring out the best header and exhaust combo that would give me the most hp and power all around. Please any suggestions would help.

Cargraphic and Rinspeed are both great choices...similar power gains, but different sounds. Cargraphic is deep where as the Rinspeed is a bit raspier.

Buying a header & muffler for power gains is a waste of money. You won't feel much of a difference. Done that, been there...

Don't have the exact specs on the 996, but the Rinspeed header, Cat, exhaust combination for the 997 yields 17 hp at the rear wheels. That's definitely noticable in the seat-o-the-pants meter. I'll try and get that info on the 996 soon.

for the price of headers and the minimal power gains, i would skip the headers and just get the cans. you'll still get the great sound. i'm using the cargraphic export cans.

Correct, but the thread starter says he's looking for hp. Exhaust on the NA cars doesn't get you much of that if any and if you're going to do the cats too, it gets very pricey.

Be skeptical of the claimed hp gains, most are pure BS in my experience.

Lots of reasons to ditch the stock mufflers, but hp gains are near the bottom of the list.

I got the headers and pipes (plus tips) from EVOMS, the "German Sport Exhaust". I also got the V-Flox induction system and GIAC software upgrade.

All done by James and Sharky back in the Akkurat days.

I'm very pleased with the pipes, they sound great on the freeway, and have a nice bubble to them around town.

The software seemed to move the power down the RPM range.

And as for the V-Flow, dang ! It sounds like a F16 when it comes past you.

As an entire package it's made a big difference. I noticed it the second I jumped onto the freeway after leaving Akkurat.

I'm not sure doing just one thing, like pipes will buy you much, but doing these things worked for me. Very noticable change.

Next up for me is some free flow cats.
