I was in a 25 mph zone today driving by the Oklahoma campus at the start of the football game. I was in the turning lane of a 3 lane street at a complete stop. When I found out that I could not turn, I argessively got back into the other lane ( i did not smoke the tires but did rev the engine). I never exceeded the speed limit because there was a 4 way stop no more than 200 ft in front of me. At the 4 way stop there was a sheriff standing in the street directing traffic (not in his car) and he flagged me to pull over.

The ticket he wrote me was for reckless driving. He told me that I should slow down in this area because there were too many people around (although the game had already started and the stadium was full). He was not clocking me or pacing me. What should I do? I definitely dont need my insurance to skyrocket or to be dropped.

To make things worse, today was my 24th Bday.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Fight it, and don't worry.

 

Plead not guilty and state your case to the magistrate/judge. Keep it simple and to the point.

 

man, i just got arrested last friday for reckless driving. 24 hours in Jail. A Porsche hater freaking cop. The worst is that i wasn't speeding he just didn't like me. Going to court on Friday. No radar, no camera he just said that i looked guilty and he had to meet the quota for job security.

 

Sounds like a lawsuit to me......
