1999 Porsche 996 to 991 GT3 Cabriolet Project Car
Hello everyone, I am actually looking for some feedback on a project car I am doing myself. I am converting a 1999 996 Cabriolet to a GT3 Cabriolet. I have done all the fabrication and modifications myself. This is the progress I have made so far with my project car.

Looks good so far but as others said, Sideskirts and rear. Are you also molding in the rear taillights? Can't tell if you're also widening the rear.
Is this a Wicked kit or are all the panels OEM?
Why did you put your nice wheels on when doing body work?
Just be prepared for the front to scrape a bit, especially if you're lowered as the 991 has too much front overhang compared to where the front wheels are placed on the 996.

Actually this is all sheet metal and fabrication when it comes to the car I am not using any kits whatsoever. I am repainting all the wheels again and adding a front spoiler and some other details that I am fabricating myself. The interior is being redone by a very reputable interior shop with the exception of the backseats since no one will ever sit in the back. The rear I am finishing up and will post some other photos soon. I will look into the side skirts and see what I could do with that.
Thanks for the comments I will keep posting more pics!!

Threads like this one are always interesting. It appears to take a tremendous amount of work and money to make a good conversion. As an observer, it makes me wonder if it would be cheaper and easier to buy a 991. Obviously there's no such thing as a GT3 cabriolet, so you can't buy that.
Kudos to you for taking on a project of such magnitude. The car you want doesn't exist, so you've decided to simply make your own!

Thanks Dennis, I have actually had this car sitting for a long time and decided to make it into something unique. This one I am going to keep but I have another one lined up that I am going to sell and looking to buy others to convert into a GT3. I will post more photos soon maybe by tomorrow Ill make some more progress on it.

I'm not sure you're aware but there is an all metal white 991 conversion on this forum as well.
Keep the updates coming.
Btw, you got any pics of the cut/weld lines on the fenders?

Hello Alpine003, yes I do own a body shop so it helps that I keep everything in house but still very time consuming. I have not seen the all metal conversion where do you find the link to that conversion. I will keep all the updates coming as I progress and take more pics as well.

Hello everyone, an update on the car I painted the body on Friday and here are some pictures. It still needs some work but its coming along. I painted the car Miami Blue since I have never seen one in this color.

Member PeterPokerlane bought the all metal conversion from someone. I believe his is only front end though and using 997 headlights so not apples to apples here.
Looking really good. Is that a Jag E-type hood in the background? Are you restoring one too?
Good choice on the color.
What do you plan for the wheel well liners and cooling ducts?

Hello Alpine003, yes that is a 1969 E type that I am restoring for myslef as well. I actually have most of the car completed just need to finish the front cap. As far as the wheel well liners/cooling ducts that is yet to be determined what I will do still figuring that out. I love this color it looks great in person. I will do more updates this week trying to get this thing done hopefully by next week.
