Is it legal to put colored headlight film in CA ? I saw the blue film installed on a GT2 or Turbo at the LA AutoShow (GMG Racing Booth) and wanted to do the same but yellow. Is this legal ? Anyone ?

Haha.. Sent it back for painting since they used a different color code... B@stards.... I'll get it on Wednesday.. I'll be posting it here for sure...

Yah, they did put artic silver on the wing... Weird because I left my car there for some warranty stuff... I guess they never bothered looking if the color matched.

 

I really doubt its legal, especially in ca.

it's not legal in blue or yellow. but it only a fix a ticket. you most likely will not get pulled over for blue, kind of like having light tint on your front window. but you will get pulled over quick with yellow, kind of like having limo tint on the front window. i know a lot of peops who have done it. looks hot.

 

You will definitely get pulled over for blue. Blue is a major no no in CA because it is reserved for law enforcement vehicles only. Slightly blue headlight bulbs might get by but blue lenses will get you pulled over right away.

 

The funny thing is that yellow headlight lenses will probably get you pulled over as well but in France, I believe all headlights are yellow.... go figure?

 

They used to be yellow i France, but not anymore. Just on older cars nowadays. When i lived there and used my swedish car (white lights) I was flashed all the time by annoyed french vehicles. Got so tired of it I changed over to yellow bulbs...

Yellow bulbs was a popular retrofit here a couple a years ago, but not anymore. Xenons ended that.

 

I would say blue is worse then yellow. as someone mentioned blue lights on the front of a car are restricted to law enforcement only.

 

So far no tickets and with fabspeed by-pass pipes. Luckily I have my 2006 PBA card handy. I originally had them in yellow (Lemans style) but then went to blue which I think blends in better. I know in NJ they are illegal but I will probably get away with a no-ticket warning.

Not Legal, my friends from Reno got pulled over when they visited me
