2000 c4 p0455

Good morning everyone. I've had my 911 for about 1 1/2 years now and when I first got it, the CEL was illuminated with the code P0455. The PO had installed an aftermarket locking gas cap so I went to the Porsche dealer and got an OEM one and the code went away. Now the code is back on and I can't figure out why. Everything I've searched for regarding this code shows all sorts of symptoms that I don't have. I can fill up the fuel tank just fine, I don't hear any howling noises, none of my evap lines are cracked or disconnected, and my code reader shows the evap readiness as green. Also, I recently had a DME report ran and it showed the tank pressure and atmospheric pressure being different values ( I don't remember what they were offhand), so that seems to me that there isn't a gross leak in the system. Does anyone have any ideas on where I can look next? Thanks in advance for any help.

Could be your fuel line vent value.

Your fuel vent value could be defective.

Part #: 996-201-143-01-M100

That's all I keep finding about this code, but I have zero of the symptoms anyone has posted about for the vent valve.

I understand. I know people have damaged these units by overfilling gas and such. Beyond that, you'd have to start examining the fuel pump assembly.

Hope you find a solution.

Well, the car got hit in the passenger fender and door this morning so I'm sure the evap equipment in there has been crunched.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Talk about insult to injury. I hope everyone was alright. I'm assuming you're okay since you're posting on the forum. Just let us know how things turn out. I truly hope for the better.

It was just a parking lot hit, but the guys truck crushed the fender in right behind the filler door and put a good size crease/dent in the door. Already submitted a claim to his insurance so we'll see how everything turns out. Thanks for the kind words!

In case anyone was interested in seeing the hit. My initial estimate is $1577 to get it fixed but they didn't take anything off to inspect collateral damage and didn't quote a door replacement.

Wow... that's a nasty little hit there!

Of course, I'm not surprise by the estimate, but it is horribly low for a Porsche. I would expect the estimate to be twice that much at least which enough allowance to replace any hidden damage. It's not totally uncommon for the average body shop to estimate based on "normal" car that don't stuff things in the fenders like Porsche does. This is not your average Chevy.

Oh and one other point...

These doors are more finicky than the average door too. I can't tell you how many people I've seen that have been frustrated with window issues regarding resistance sensors (window won't close), bad regulators, faulty locks, etc. Therefore, you need to make sure the door is NOT warped and if they chose to repair instead of replace, make sure they repair it properly or you'll have a lifetime of the window protective sensor preventing you from getting the window closed reliably.

I figured I should update this.

The charcoal canister/evap control box was cracked open when the car was hit. The body shop replaced it and I no longer have the p0455 code.
