Best NA power on a 3.4L

So I tried searching "header", "headers", and "intake" and it kept saying SORRY NO RESULTS.
Well that's a load. I'm sure this has been discussed to the end of the world, so I apologize for asking again.

I am just wondering what some #s people have put down with their 3.4Ls NA.
They are rated at 300bhp, so I am assuming 290whp is attainable (albeit expensive). I currently drive a Honda S2000 (don't laugh ) which has 240bhp. I was able to manage 230whp out of it, which they say is one the most tweaked engines from the factory. Wa ha!

What are the best "bolt on" mods?

I am guessing the EVO V-Flow intake.

Which headers are there? Which is the best? I know of Fabspeed, but how about the ones listed on EVOs site? Does Cargraphic make some for the 3.4L? I dont know much about Suncoast (is that it?). And I forget the name of SANDOVALS header, I found it in an old post with some videos. Short name.

Exhaust? Fabspeed, Gruppe-M (anyone have this one?), etc. I bet they are all similar in their minimal gains.

I wont be using CATs, so are their strait pipes connecting the mufflers to the header? Sorry for such a noob question. I don't own a Porsche yet so I can not go look under the engine at the setup. I am coming from the M3/S2000 'scene', so I am starting from scratch kind of on the Carrera. I hope to get into one eventually. I have seen Fabspeed Muffler Bypass? I am assuming that bypasses the mufflers, but why? I'd rather bypass the cats and remove them, providing a complete exhaust flow of headers, strait pipes, mufflers.

And of course the typical EVO/GIAC software upgrade, combined with the EVO Stage II clutch kit (lightweight flywheel).

Does anybody have a complete setup like this? What numbers have you put down?

THANKS!!!

I have a 99 C2 and when I bought it, it had a few mods done to the motor. Headers, mufflers, and Unichip piggyback computer. It put down about 260 at the wheels. The computer needs tuning and I am adding the Fabspeed cat-bypass and intake system (BMC filter with Fabspeed)...

So we will see what type of power it does without doing cams

Big step for the car will be next year with a S/C

Your car will be mighty impressive with the SC.
Maybe when I am back home for the summer (Seattle area) I will tag along on some of local meets. I am good friends with Kunal, Dale, Joe, and Kevin. Looking forward to meeting you!

I agree with Wyatt, you will be VERY impressed with your car with a S/C. It will litterally transform your 911 (a night and day difference). The TPC (turbo performance center) S/C kit in particular will feel like you dumped your 3.4L motor for a highly tuned 100+HP/per liter ~4.2L stroker motor...in terms of power, torque and feel. (full boost (6psi) @ 2.8Krpms to redline)

Did somebody say 100+hp/liter? Oh, wait... Nevermind.. You also said something about torque!

I am already struggling to get the 911. I don't think I'll ever get an SC.

Yes, thats the difference between F/I (forced aspiration) and N/A...particularly a S/C'er that feeds in boost independant of engine rpms (like a turbo)...the roots style TPC blowers achieve positive boost "you can feel" as low as 2000rpms with full boost coming in at ~2800rpms! Getting that 6psi from under 3000rpms thru to the 7300redline swells your torque #'s to a enormous degree, make for huge "area under the curve" and ultimately...turbo-like accelaration....strike that, a modded-up turbo like acceleration hehe

Cheers,

---Kevin

PS: Never say never...the S/C's are "reasonably" priced with creative financing methods now becoming more and more accessible. (thats why I'm broke, LOL)

Ive been very happy with Cargraphic full system- mufflers - cats and headers...
Havent had much experiance with some of the others..
Cargraphic is definetly not the least expensive but they do make power- you need to address the exhaust system as whole. ( headers-mufflers-cats)

just my .02 good luck..

Kevin,
I was just making a silly aside to my S2000. 120bhp/liter but no torque.

Cargraphic has nice stuff. I didn't know they made a full exhaust setup for the 3.4L. Have you ever dynod? Do you have intake and an ecu?

Sounds Great Wyatt! I hate how Joe's car just pulls on me with the 3.8L

Joes car is super fast... I am not sure what power he gained with I/H/E, though. And Kevin just got a V-Flow EVO intake. Dale... Wow, well you know that story. Great group of guys. You should come on our drives this summer! It's funny, I met Kevin and Dale on M3forum, Kunal on 6speed, and Joe through a friend on My350z. Hahaha... Small world.

Dayam.... Nice pics. Is that in Tacoma? Looks like Susp Bridge near the T-Dome.

Here's an oldy of Dales 996, Kunal's old DB9, and my S2 in it's ricey stage (looks way different now... cmon, I had to get rice out of my system at 17 y/o).

I've only driven Dale's with the exhaust. Haven't with the new Turbos yet!!! Hahaha and that's already sex.
We'll have some fun this year. 996>M3, but I would really want an 01 C2 Aero, and those tend to be in $40k's. An 03 M3 is already in the $30k's.
BTW, you should drop TWC and join our Speed Architech.
