Psm
Until you really need it... then it will save your butt.
If it was the choice between a car with PSM vs one without get the one with PSM. PSM in porsche is not like stability control in other cars, it has a bit of wiggle room before it kicks in.

I think it's great on the street but most people turn it off and especially on the track since it sorta gets in the way when you don't want it to
It's worse on the AWD cars and less intrusive on the 2WD cars.

The instructors at the Porsche Driving Experience all say that you should leave it on since: 1. it allows a reasonable amount of wiggle room, 2. if it intervenes it's because you did something wrong and you should realize you did and correct it, and 3. they are all much better track drivers than me. They all claim that they can drive a Carrera with PSM on and generate excellent lap times without it comming on...

I agree that it can come in handy but it gives too many drivers the mistaken belief that physics doesn't apply to them leading to overdriving their personal skills on public roads.
If you cant controll a 996 from sliding out without PSM then go learn to drive before you buy.

When I feel like wagging the tail, I turn it off, but the rest of the time it's on.
I agree with the PDE guys as well. On the track I leave PSM on, and if I do something stupid it lets me know. My goal is to go fast without activating the system. I use it as a training aid as much as anything. If you rely on it as a crutch, of course it's a problem. PSM can't break the laws of physics, but it will let you butt right up against the hard limits.
