Amp Brands Questions.....

I am getting new amps for my audio system...The speakers are Focal seperates and a custom JL Audio 8" sealed enclosure. I was going to go with Audison, but wanted to look at my options. JL Audio? I was told it didnt have the same depth or clarity.???? Polk Momo? I know nothing except it gets good reviews. Rokford Fosgate? I have heard they are not the company that it used to be and the quality has gone downhill....Any comments either way or something I should be looking at? I want at least a 75x4 amp and a 250x1 amp....Dont wanna break the bank, BUT dont want inferior sound to save a few bucks either.

Check out Tru Technology...audiophile quality, very clean, & powerful.

Was going to buy one new and picked up a used 4 channel (100w per) for a very nice price.

I love it.

Audison is very good but make sure you purchase their top of the line (VRx) and not their mid or budget series, LRx or SRx.

Stay away from Rockford Fosgate & MB Quart (bought by Rockford)...this stuff has become crap as their products/company has repositioned for the mass market.

The very old RF & MB Quart were great products/companies...not so anymore.

I run focal polyglass components with a JL 12w6 sub... I decided to run with zapco amps and they are a great combo. I have a friend who is running audison amp with some dynaudio speakers and that sounds even better - but it also costs 4x as much.

For the money, I have been very happy with the JL's and the Focal components. In my previous M Roadster I used the same JL 300/4 and an Alpine for the sub. The Alpine died in short order and was replaced by the JL 250/1. Worked great and had no issues. Stereo money is much like any other car mods, you can get 90% of the way for 10% of the money. The other 10% performance increase will cost you 90% of your money. I just wanted something reasonably clear without breaking the bank, especially considering the ambient noises in the car.

The JL Audio amps are actually very good. It all comes down to what level of sounds quality you want to get and what your budget is.

I worked in the car audio field for 10 years so if you want more info feel free to ask

personally I am running Eclipse DVD, Focal speakers, JL Audio Amp (one 5 ch), JL Audio subs

Where are you looking to install the subs? do you have the door speakers in your car? I have a great setup for you.. also where do you live, if you are near Scottsdale or WA state I have a great hookup for you. www.signatureaudiousa.com

I am looking at the Reus System, will be going by the shop tomorrow, it all sounds great, just not sure I wanna put that kinda money into it....If I don't go with the Reus, I'll get the Ai Design footwell sub and the Focal seperates...I do have door speakers.

kept mine simple

I kept mine simple.......and inexpensive

200watt (2) Profile amp.

Polk component system...w xovrs. tweets in dash, mids in doors....no rear speakers.

bazooka 8" amp tube behind rear seats (i know, funky....but is hardly visible). Only I know it's there .

The system sounds great with clear highs and tight <b>***

The head is a Becker Monza MP3.

NEWPORT, Do you use your backseat? and what about the area below the seat between your front seat and the back seat (small wall) . We use to make small enclosures there for 8" woofers, and do one on each side. That would be 100% better than taking away your footwell on the passenger side. I would maybe think about Morel 3 way system. They have a PERFECT set for the 911 that will utilize a 7" in the door and a pair for the dash! . Those speakers sound AMAZING and you can put a ton of power to them with no distortion. great for a convertible!
