few interior mods
few interior mods
Finally got some small interior mods, I installed my $79 ebay pedals which are fantastic. Also got a alumalook front center console (horseshoe around center vents/hvac/stereo) for my bday that Eric at Bumperplugs did a fabulous job on. Also hardwired my V1 which was actually really easy to do.
Next up for the interior, I want to do that thin strip that divides the dash (between the passanger airbag and glove box and also on either side of the steering wheel) in alumalook, and hopefully later the side air vents and the rear center console in alumalook as well. All in good time.
thumbs up for bumperplugs!

Big difference - really sets off the interior.
Eric's stuff is so nice. I did the center & rear consoles and seat hooks in lapis blue, new shifter, and alumi-look hazard & ignition surrounds. I Just ordered the bat wing & temp controls in lapis to complete the look.
I'd suggest doing the alumi-look hazard & ignition surrounds - very inexpensive @ $79, looks great and very easy to do. Good luck changing the dash strips - I tried & couldn't do it.

I want to do the hazard and ingnition surrounds and at $79 I'd do it sooner. But looking at the bumperplugs site they are $149 each, so I thought $300 was a tad expensive for such small pieces. Was that special prices?
Eric, if your doing any deals on alumalook hazard & ignition let me know, because I plan on getting the 3-piece aluma strips soon.
thanks for the info mjl... Im doing one piece at a time, but I think in the end it will be stunning. The rear center console will probably make a huge difference.

I'm going to do my ignition and flashers, maybe my gauge lid and maybe the stearing area...... I'll post some photos when I do, heck we paint wheels, how hard can some small items be...

Yikes, the dash strip removal looks like a PITA. Not sure if I want to do this anymore. hehe
Word of warning to others doing the front center console, the cigerette lighter is a PITA to remove.

Kem - I could have sworn the surrounds were only 79 each - maybe he was running a special?
I tried the dash strips while doing the horse shoe and couldn't get the original ones to break free. I knew it was a PIA job going in & applied a lot of pressure but felt like the dash would break before the strip. I then had two proffessional trim guys attempt it too and they couldn't do it either. One of the trim guys had done it on another 996 and thought my strips were bonded much harder then the other car. Very strange.
Fortunately being the stand up guy he is, Eric took them back & I ordered the bat wing and temp control pieces.

the airbag strip replacement is going to scare the S.. out of you.....trying to pry the old one out will move your dashboard like crazy...and you have to be crazy.... like me....to give it the extra pull to get it out.......you will love the end result!!

By the way, I've just pulled a ton of the items out of the car tonight but I can't find my camera!!!!!
Hopefully I'll find it once everything is ready to go back in. I have the center console, the upper console, the sills, ash tray, and a couple of other items in there. I will be picking up a set of GT3 seats tomorrow so I'll also add those in with some polish or paint to the side slides......
My car looks like it was stolen right now with the dash torn down and the seats out!!!!!
