Tire question

Would one of you do me a big favor and see what the manual (or maybe door sill?) for the 996 says about tire options?

Then a question: if the manual says nothing about sidewall stiffness of tires. The dealership is trying to deny us warrantee because the sidewall wasn’t as stiff as the Pzeros. If it doesn’t say anything in the manual can we argue that because it’s not printed, and we had no knowledge that they cannot deny us warrantee?

FWIR, you have to have Porsche spec. tires N0-N4 or you will have a problem with you warrantee. Check out Tire Rack and it says next to the tire if it is Porsche O.E. or not. But if it is not printed anywear you might be able to get around the warrantee issue and get the problem resolved. Tire Rack

What is it that you're trying to get fixed under warranty?

The wheel cracked. Not from driving on it flat, though. We even had it towed in so they couldn't say that. They are saying because we have S-03s that they cannot pick up the bill.

Tirerack offers S-03s for 996s. I'm still not finding sidewall stiffness for the tire, though.

I wouldn't think they would warranty it even with the Porsche approved tires. Some of the potholes around here, would ruin the wheels on my 4x4 pickup. Good Luck, and keep us posted please.

Like I said, we towed the car in so that they couldn't say the damage occurred from driving on the tire flat. I've been told by people that the S-03 has even stiffer side walls than the Pzeros. If this is so, then their reasoning that the tires weren't as stiff so they can't warrantee are unfounded. The streets are pothole free over here too.

I finally got the wheel. They are shipping it to us (I would protest and drive down and get it. But I'm busy, and the dealership is 40 miles away) I’ll be taking it to a rim shop sometime in the next few days.

Silverbeam, Are they saying that you damaged the wheel due to the Tire you have ? and with the approved tires that this would not have happened? If they are implying that you did the damage by hitting a curb or something, I don't think any tire would make too much of a difference, Good Luck
