Less of a man...(selling and regretting???)

Im considering selling my car for a m5. I need a backseat and 500hp is nothing to sneeze at. financially I could have both-- right now I have a m3 daily and 911 on weeknds. But realistically, Im not sure I would drive the 911 on the weeknds since the m5 would just be easier to get in and go and do family stuff as well.
I have a bad feeling I'll kick myself 6 months from now that I sold my car.

I guess I could always try for 6 months then sell ?!??!?!

Justing wasting virtual space rambling on

G,
If you don't need to sell it right now, give it a few months and then decide. Oftentimes when people sell they come back, so think about it for a while. Just my thoughts. Where are you located?

Personally, I think you will regret buying the M5. As a former M-tech owner, BMW's are not sportscars. 5's are too heavy and weak structurely to withstand the abuse a 911 can endore. My Porsche dealer had a bunch of low mileage M5's on the lot over the last year (an RS4, too).

Buy the M5 and give me the Porsche. If you miss it I'll let you drive it.

its just a matter of time before you start to regret it... months maybe years, in the end you will regret it.

My opinion if you need 4doors - the M5 is the way to go. A great car. And a great buy for a used one. And right now on 2000-2003's 20-30k miles....seeing mid to high 30s if you shop and negotiate. But do your homework if you buy a used one.....and get the extended warranty - BMW is great about swapping out parts...if it is under warranty...If I did not own a 4door Alpina...that would be the BMW in my garage with my C2

Sounds like he thinking about the current M5 (the 500 hp comment). The new M5 is pretty sweet, although I'm not completely sold on the styling. The lack of a manual transmission is also an issue. If I were in the market for a new super-sedan I'd look hard at the S6 or RS6. All the magazines seem to love the MB AMG E63.

Why not sell the M3 and get the M5 instead? Then you'd have the extra space and the 911.

yes the e60 m5
I lease my m3 but own my 911.
I drove my car for 20 mins this weekend and still love it. If I do decide to sell I shouldn't drive it because Ill never let it go
But thats all the time I have--like 30 mins every weekend

Thumbs up

Lets be serious ...

You'll get 10x more use out of the M5 then you do from the 911.
So, in that regard, swapping to the M5 makes plenty of sense.

THAT BEING SAID....

what he isnt telling you guys is that he is going to the Porsche Performance Driving Experience in a few months. If he sells before hand, and comes home to a Carrera-less Garage after that.... he will never forgive himself.

either way...
niether car will be a dissappointment... thats for sure.

Good Luck Sparky!
