New Member, Looking to join the P-car family!
Hello everyone. I'm pretty new to this forum, but I'm an old time member on e46fanatics, driving a widebody e46 sedan w/m3 engine for quite a few years not. I've been running Europrojektz in Canada for the past few years in my spare time and have been working like crazy!
I've been seriously considering a 996 for quite some time now.
I haven't thought about ordering a new car since I will be wasting money as I will be modding the hell out of it.
I have been considering:
03+ Cl55 - excellent daily driver
03+ 996 C4S (can't afford a turbo, but would like one!)
02-03 DB7 Aston
I think I know what you guys would pick, but give me some feedback to push me in the right direction!
I ride motorcycles, so I need some good power. Will the 996 C4S satisfy me?

I'm with him ^ high mileage TT will be the same +/- as a highly modded NA or close to it. But, if your looking to mod for fun, NA is cheaper to mod than a TT for sure, especially if you do alot of it yourself. Ive enjoyed modding mines... and thats priceless. The 996 is a great/fun car to mod.
The C4S is actually slower than the narrower body since itis heavier due to the turbo body but its prob the most desired of all 996 NA. Its a great car you wont regret it. As far as power, with a S/C installed guys on here have gotten results as high as 450 RWHP on a 3.6. GL with the decision.

I'm with Redridge. Cheap turbo would be way cool, buy you'll have a blast in a supercharged 996 too.
My 996 got an EVOMS supercharger a year ago, I have an SSK on it and PSS9's on a fairly stiff setting and an FVD headers / pipes setup. It's a blast to drive, it howls on the freeway too.
:-)
There are many here who claim an SC'd 996 will hang with a turbo until way over the ton, but I've never experienced that myself. I've heard quarter numbers of 11.9 loosely flung about too, again I've never put mine on the strip so I don't have direct evidence.
I'm amazed that these things are so reliable when modded too. Mine is my daily driver and my f-car is the weekend machine.
There are guys here that have 996 SC'd machine and track them relentlessly every weekend.
If only my 348 was as reliable.

Thanks for the input.
Does anyone have experience with the other 2 cars?
I want to limit my budget to somewhere within 50-70k realistically
Are there any downfalls for a 996tt? How is it as a daily driver and are there any major problems with higher mile cars?

You cant go wrong with any P Car I feel. Obviously a Turbo is better than a 996 NA but I have a 996 C2 Cab and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT and my buddy has a C4S Cab and thats a crazy car its quick and the handling is STUPID. I have had 2 E46 M3s and even though those are nice cars, the Porsche is hands down a better car in my opinion. Driving a Porsche makes you smile everytime you start the car, oh yea it helps I have bi pass pipes . Get any PORSCHE MAN

The CL is a great car!! nice driver, but that is where it ends! It is not a drivers car if you know what I mean. The Aston.... well prepare to have it in the shop and deal with issues. there are alot of people here that are unahppy with that car. It looks great, but I read that most people here would rather have a mercedes or BMW for less money.
A very good friend of mine HATED her Aston even though it was a beautiful car, it had too many issues. She would rather driver her Audis any day of the week
BTW: I have seen your 3 series,... very nice work on that car

I ride bikes as well, but driving four wheels I do not need the total killer Power/weight game that the Turbo affords, and that we get from our bikes. Granted I'd love to have a Turbo, except the $$$ factor. But if you are doing day to day driving in a Porsche alot of fun and pleasure can be found in a C2 narrow body.
