Most porsche's have "Carrara" on the rear. Why do some have "911" on the rear?

 

All 99's say Carrera.

The dealer said something about some 911's had some sort of sport package with the 911 decal on the rear. Just wanted to know if anyone had a correct answer.

 

The Millineum(sp) had a 911 emblem.

 

I thought all 911s said CARRERA unless you removed it and replaced it with the 911 numbers...I didnt know there was an option for it to come from the factory that way...

 

Your dealer does not know what they are talking about. The 911 badge was on the rear of the Anniversary 996's. The previous owner of your car put it on there.

My first thought was the car was once wrecked in the rear and some idiot put 911 on the rear, but that is not the case....

 

Millenium, and anniversary ed. Millenium are 911 in chrome, and anniversary is 911 40 years (in german) in silver. The rest are mods... the the 50th PCA 997 might be 911 as well not positive on this one.

edit: Just looked it up, 997 pca 50 anniv ed sez carrera s.

There are a few 993's and 996's rebadged with 911 here on 6speed.

 

and removed "carrera" on the rear and put a "911" on..
