Just got a $100 no front plate ticket.

Good thing is I can pay $10 if I have my front plate mounted. I am missing the front backing plate. I have the 2 little post that go into the bumper holes but not the backing plate. Does anyone have 1 that you don't need? I need to have this corrected pronto. This reeks....

this was in sf. i had a weird feeling when parking my car. sure enough, i came back to find 2 tickets on the window. 1 was legit (i misread the sign), the other was the no front plate.

anyone has an extra backing plate?

 

I would check into your local laws before you pay, or mess with your car. Cops around here wont hassle you just for your plate, only if you were doing something else wrong. Sounds similar to your incident. There are provisions in place around my area that state if your car did not originally come with a front plate, you don’t need it. They will write you a ticket regardless. If you call them on it they have to back out of it. They just want money, like taking a 1/3 of my check wasn’t enough.

Just be smart about it. Look into it. Here is where having your own personal lawyer would come in handy, or at least save you some effort. Good luck!

 

hey david, long time no see. dont park ur car on the street in SF, u'll get a no front plate ticket for sure. if i have to drive my porsch there i'll park it in the parking garage.

 

They can give you fix it without your presence? never heard of that..

 

Hey Liew, good advice on parking. I haven't gotten front plate issue for a while until now.

Alex, Fix it ticket can be given either parked or in traffic. The SF city website has a write up on "No Plate" or "No Tag" violation. It's $10 fee if I can get it corrected and signed off by police. Time to find that license backing plate....
