Question Window issue

My driver side window is no longer lowering the 1/2 inch or so for opening and closing the door. From what I've read online it sounds like a Regulator issue. I read that you can reset the regulator by holding button down for 5 seconds or so. Has anyone had any experience with this issue? thanks

this happens once in a while. i think it's actually a microswitch or something that controls the regulator, not sure. try resetting by pressing up or down for 30 seconds.

I had the same problem with my 99. The sensor switch had to be replaced, it was under warranty at the time.

I've been living with the same problem for about 9 months now, too lazy to take apart the door and replace the window regulator. Once of these days I'll get around to it.

Officer Cartman, let me know how difficult it is when you get around to it. Sucks all i want to do is just drive it.

it's weird, it works on opening from outside but not as easy when you're inside and trying to get out. In any case, it's starting to score the glass, so I'm going to have to take it in...will advise on outcome

Hi Dscott, i got a question, when you disassembled the side panel, did you need to disconect the battery so there was no risk of the air-bag deploying?? Your link was very helpful. Thanks. Dean

I did not disconnect the battery because I didn't have the radio's code to re-enable it following power loss. I don't know that this is a real problem, but I was led to believe it would be. In hindsight, the cost of replacing an airbag or the possibility of injury makes my reasoning sound a bit silly now.

I also found this DIY writeup on the Boxster to be helpful, http://www.bombaydigital.com/boxster/projects/window/
Most things were nearly identical to what I found on my 2000 C4 Coupe 6sp. There were other similar writeups, too, but I liked this one's writing style and the pictures were clear and informitive.
