Evoms V-Flow Air Intake.. (y) or (n)?
John,
I'm going to make up a bracket that will rotate the smog pump so as eliminate that awful noise in the next couple of weeks. If its not too ugly I'll make up a spare for you as well, probably in stainless steal as I have some sitting around...

Both the K&N and the EVOMS are great systems. They are built well and work well, and will put a smile on your face. If you just want something that looks cool when you open the trunk get the Champion system and pay over $2000

The K&N is a pain to install and what not, but once it is in, it is a good piece. I don't know what you mean by "shoddy" or what part. It's a $300 intake system not $2500 like some others.
I hope to get Daryl out to the track this summer. He has been working away on his house and getting that done, heck he doesn't even have his car at his house yet. I think I am going to put it in my garage for a while

He got his car back alright, apparently it is sitting in the street

I added the infamous "orange cap" on the intake and like the sound it makes, too bad its for a very short rpm range. I want something louder, but don't want to spend the money on the Evoms box (K&N price point is more like it), but since it rains 8 months out of the year down here, not sure if the K&N is a viable choice or not. I have also heard conflicting stories on the K&N unit and fouling MAF sensors. Any definite answer on this?

I believe that K&N does that for all of their kits since some of them are mounted down low in the body such as cars like honda civics and Ford trucks where water can get sucked up very easily being that the filter is lower than the bumper and if you hit a puddle it can suck up the water. Never worried about cold air
I just saw a pic of the Aircharger and it does look pretty open to me! I wonder if K&N will develop (or perhaps a current owner could?) some sort of "rain shiled". When I wash my car, barely any water gets in the engine compartment, but truth be told, I have never taken a look at what things look like after driving in the rain (both spoiler up and down circumstances). Any current K&N owners could take a look back there and see if something could be fabricated as to make it "rain safe"? I like the way this looks: http://www.gruppem.co.jp/en/product/...plication.html but at $1,630 FOB Japan, well, its a tad expensive. A buddy of mine had a Gruppe M intake on his Modena and it was a piece of art and sounded beautiful (until the Capristo exhaust and Hyper Flow cats were installed!)
