I know its for a 997, but the CF airbox that Champion sells goes for $3,000! They say it will give the car 10-12hp, but they rather push a Tubi exhaust for $500 less and similar performance gains. Either way, that is a lot of money for an airbox!

can't say this enough... don't mod your n/a 911 with intake and exhaust for "performance gains" else you look really silly justifying $$$$$$$ for puny additional power

I did the silly mods you state... it helps, especially if you want more gain and decide to S/C... If you have it in your budget and have all your priorities right why not mod it... it is their $$$$$$$

I don't get it, can you clarify why not? These minor and relatively inexpensive additions do provide noticeable positive benefit.
I personally do not plan on dropping $10k in engine mods on my NA tiptronic pcar...
If I wanted that much additional gain in power I would sell it and put the large $ towards a used TT (which I may do, eventually...).

What's the point of packaging it in a Chinese POS?
+1...I couldn't have said it any better.

One guys garbage is another guys treasure. I have no complaints with the K&N and honestly it was simple to install. I guess it depends on how mechanically inclined you are. It is a pain in CA for any intake kits since non are CARB exempt and eventually have to be swapped with the OEM bow before SMOG check. Also K&N is a big name and may not be the prettiest intake but always well made and fits!

As for power gains. YES it is true that you cannot gain high out put from intake and exhaust...even ECU upgrade on non-turbo rides. But gains can be made and if you can get a good deal then why not?

This thread didn't really yield any results.. and now I know why EVO have not bothered to improve their product...There is nothing like it in the price range. Abviously the K&N is there but it has some issues with being used in all weather.

So should I just give in and get a Evoms V-Flow? No Satisfied customers out there?

The K&N has been revised for all weather an apparently the use of some sort of a "sock" will make it all weather. Me? Well, I ended up doing the muffler bypass. When they get to be too much (as they did already), then I will get the K&N.

I'm not saying the V-Flow doesn't "work," I'm just saying its execution leaves a lot to be desired. For the money - or even a little more - it should be made from better material and better put together (B&M SSK is a good example). It works fine (I don't imagine I'd be saying that if moving parts were involved) and it sounds good, esp. at WOT. You're just not going to be showing off your engine bay.

yo porsch3, did u decide not to put the drycharger sock on the filter? Also, seems like you didn't adjust the rubber boot when reinstalling the MAF sensor so it looks like wires are still pointing left instead of right. of course, no big deal...just fyi...
