Question for everyone that has installed one of these. I suspect they they do flow more air than the stock airbox but the part that I question is the "cold" air part. Has anyone with one of these done a simple before/after comparison during a road test of the intake air temp?
Do the HVAC computer trick and set it 35c - Outside temp. from inlet sensor
Link on how to for those in need... http://www.cb-racing.com/boxster_AC.html

K&N intake problems well documented in 996's
Hey y'all,
I was going to pull the trigger on the K&N intake when they first came out but am glad I waited and have decided to try to get the EVO V-flow. There have been a ton of complaints on the Rennlist board. Here are just a few of the longer threads...

I hope that the links work. If not, just go to Rennlist and search for K&N and MAF. Lots of disgruntled K&N customers but the V-flow (newer model) guys all seem pretty happy. The only thing that keeps me from getting one is the rather brutal price. Is there anyone that would be interested in putting together a group buy on the V-flow?

Bruce is a dear friend of mine!Look at the evidence, fellas. It's staring at you right in the face in front of your LCD screens. Get the Evo, not the KN. How have I ever led you astray?

I 'm not fond of the idea of taking something off my car and replacing it with something of lesser quality in the name of more power. The seal around the air box creams "made in China," and I know it is not working as per its design. The metal "EVO" label vibrated off during the second week and escaped out the bottom without getting mangled in the fan belt, the glue holding the filter collar to the intake tube failed, and the filter is a pain in the butt to take off when it's time to clean it. But it is what it is - it does work rather well. With headers and exhaust my car screams. The sound alone is worth the money and no CEL. It's just not a pretty enough thing to put on a Porsche.
I couldn't agree with you more. Just installed my EVOMS kit, to say the least I am not impressed at all. The quality of the Carbonio kit I put on my R32 made of carbon fiber and polished aluminum is WAY better and it only cost $250. What really has my panties in a bunch is the fittment! Spent close to 1/2 day lining things up and the hood still will not shut after trimming the seal around the upper box and removing the oil filler neck clip because it was hitting the fan basket on the lid. Having been in the car business for close to 20 years I have dealt with many aftermarket parts and manufacturors, it is upsetting when you are expecting one thing and get another. I will give another review after I get it on the road. Oh well, I'm back out to the garage to do some more positioning.......................
****.. this is not what i want to hear.. i hope the guys at EVOMS read these reviews! If this is the outcome of a $500 upgrade then forget it! I'm better off partying with the money. Anyway let us know wht your final review is.

I installed my B&M SSK last weekend. It represents perfectly my point on the EVOMS deal. In comparison I really feel at $500 EVOMS is raping people in the name a few more ponies and all their R&D. How much more R&D went into that air box than B&M put into their shifter? What a beautiful piece of work that thing is for less than $200! It was a shame to cover it up. Surely EVOMS could put out a comparable product in quality for the money they charge.. Their air box is absolutely crude looking. I can't imagine those things costing them more than $7.00 in China.
will get to it in the next week or so, working on the a3 this weekend, but to damn hot so evenings and mornings will have to do....
my to do list in no particular order:
1 finish putting in dynaudio woofer in the doors (remove focals)
2 eq the system
3 take out steering wheel , put in fvd 340mm wheel (arrives Wednesday)
4 remove seats, install recaro sport toplines (in basement for 8 weeks now, mod the sliders for the new brackets that came in)
5 put repainted gt3 nose back on after recutting new stainless mesh for the openings
6 create new air pump bracket
7 put in the rss intake
8 reglue gt3 side skirt that isn't on quite right
9 create a 2nd slightly louder version of the pse v2 mod
10 exterior detailing
probably do bracket 2nd or third. have patiance...

Any current K&N owners could take a look back there and see if something could be fabricated as to make it "rain safe"? I like the way this looks: http://www.gruppem.co.jp/en/product/...plication.html but at $1,630 FOB Japan, well, its a tad expensive. A buddy of mine had a Gruppe M intake on his Modena and it was a piece of art and sounded beautiful (until the Capristo exhaust and Hyper Flow cats were installed!)
