Evoms V-Flow Air Intake.. (y) or (n)?

I read a bad review on renntech that the Evoms Air Intake kit reduces power. I'm purchasing the kit and just want to be sure i'm making the right decision. Anyone have it installed? satisfied? http://www.renntech.org/forums/index...ms+air+install

Get an exhaust and a flash with it... it'll wake your car up!

I also ordered one myself. Did a lot of research prior to buying. The evom unit still uses cold air and a ram venturi design. The k&n uses hot air from the engine compartment and is more prone to CEL's, also not protected from water entering in it.

that is a post on Renntech that one guy heard from another guy that it loses power... come on now

Friend of mine that i do lapping days with bolted on the K&N on a 996 that previous had a Fabspeed and BMC filter and on 3 different back to back comparions the K&N had a 10+ hp increase.. the other guy that was with him was Greg Fordahl whom is a very well know Porsche tuner (suspension mainly) and he was BLOWN away with the results!

go with either.. you willl be happy I have the K&N and LOVE IT!

I have the EVO. I wish it was made a little better. For the money, I think it should look more like a Porsche part. I 'm not fond of the idea of taking something off my car and replacing it with something of lesser quality in the name of more power. The seal around the air box creams "made in China," and I know it is not working as per its design. The metal "EVO" label vibrated off during the second week and escaped out the bottom without getting mangled in the fan belt, the glue holding the filter collar to the intake tube failed, and the filter is a pain in the butt to take off when it's time to clean it. But it is what it is - it does work rather well. With headers and exhaust my car screams. The sound alone is worth the money and no CEL. It's just not a pretty enough thing to put on a Porsche.

seems like the Evoms kit isn't that great. What alternatives are there?

Are you comparing Fabspeed intakes to k&n or evoms intakes to k&n??? I'm a little confused by your comment.

The evoms kit was recommended highly by Greg at RSS to couple nicely with the plenum intake. His recommendation made my decision for purchasing the evoms kit.

Well let me know when you install it... cause if what happened to John Romano (pieces breaking off..and cheap finishing feel) is the same result i get i would really feel ripped off.

when i had mine i loved it. no CEL. you do have to do a flash with exhaust to maximize the potential

I will certainly give an un-biased opinion after the install, I'll keep my fingers crossed...

Yes! It screams like a Banshee! I hate it. That bracket is a good example of what I'm talking about. Compare it to the one you are replacing. Yeah, I know it's lighter, but.... Come on. Look at the air box Champion makes for the 997. Agreed, their price is crazy, but that is the caliber of part that belongs on a P car. In the name of economy I can see why EVO puts out such a product, and I can live with it's foibles, but they should really think about doing away with that el cheapo, length of weatherstripping wraped around the airbox, excuse for a seal and make a real rubber gasket with a metal collar that is rivited in place. Then I'd probably never get the air cleaner out......
