Creaking Clutch

Hey Guys,

My 996 is making a creaking/squeaking when I press the clutch pedal. I can hear the noise outside the car when the window is down.

The clutch was recently replaced last November, so it shouldn't be a wear-item issue.

Is there a place to lubricate it or otherwise quiet it down?

Sounds like you need the clutch fork lubricated

I returned it to the dealer that did the clutch repair last November, and they ended up replacing the pressure plate at no cost.

The clutch seems "stiffer" now, but it is definitely quiet.

Corey, My clutch pedal "creaks" too. What do you mean by lubricating the clutch fork? Is this something that I can perform myself or does this involve a trip to the dealer?

I just had my transaxle and engine apart to change the engine and put in an FVD branded AASCO lwf. While in there I did the clutch fork update. The only thing that I can think of is that the pressure plate is making the noise. I just can't think of anything else in there that would be making that kind of noise. Now, if you're talking inside the car, I understand that the bushings in the pedal mechanism can make some squeaking noises.

My noise is inside. What could be used to lubricate the bushings? Graphite?

I think Porsche issued a TSB on this. I know there is a specific lube that they 'require'. If you're not a Renntech.org contributing member, become one and get access to all of the TSB's as well as the DIY articles.

Yep, noise inside is an easy fix and a very common one. Even if you take it to the dealer they should only charge you .5 hrs.

Mine creaked when I got it a year and a half ago and I just sprayed a little white lithium grease up around the clutch pedal pivot (I think I'd seen a post on renntech suggesting that). Haven't heard a sound out of it since. In December, I had the RMS and IMS replaced under warranty and I asked them to inspect the clutch/pressure plate; no problems there with 70% left on it (at 34K miles!).

Hi,

If the noise is coming from inside the car, see this link:
