What do you think about this deal? Can anyone pull a vin?

I have been searching for a 996 in the low 40's and came across this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEBI:IT&ih=020

It is a dealer, but he said the car has a clean title, has some records and is overall in great shape. This just seems a little cheap, so any feedback would be great.

I am probably going to see the car tomorrow to see it in person as the pics aren't too great either.

I don't have the ability to run a VIN for you but I have some questions and comments.
Is this an anniversary edition? The tail badge looks like it without the ability to blow up the image. But...the interior suggests that it isn't.
I don't see PSM or an amp in the trunk.
No upgrades that I can see right off.
The pictures are a bit weak and hopefully the car shows better in person.
The motor pic almost looks like the motor is dirty. Why would a dealer post a pic of a dirty car?
Is this a primary dealer or a second hand store?
Take the car to someone and have them check it out for you and get it up in the air.
What papers can they give you regarding services done?

Thanks for the response. I was caught off guard by such a low price for an 04, but I guess you get what you pay for. Either way I agree the car is a fairly base model.

I have asked the dealer about warranty and service records to which he said he would get back to me. That was several days and I have not heard back, so this is going to be interesting!

Before I do anything I will follow your advice and take it to the local dealer for an inspection.

I would also pay to run the VIN on carfax and the other major online service (I can't think of the name just do a google search for VIN Check).

If you get serious about it- Be sure to do a pre-purchase inspection.

I noticed that it is at $41,100 right now, I probably wouldn't pay too much more for it given the base options, unless it turns out to be in exceptional condition.
For comparison I picked up my '02 with 27k miles on it for $37k, one-owner car. You might be paying a premium on price since it is an '04, but I don't think there's any diff between an '02 and an '04.

Good luck I hope it turns out to be a nice car!

3 years old and 35k miles and two owners. Does not seem like more than a fair deal to me. It also has dents! You will hate those and end up fixing them.

I decided not to bid past 41k. After thinking about it, the car looks a little rough. I also think the other bidder was the dealer themself trying to work me up becuase at the same time the 2nd bidder was going up I was recieving emails from the guy.

Either way the search continues...wish I could pull the 37 k deal you got pOrsch3!
