Smile Tire question

Need a new pair of tires for the rear, size is 285/30/18 dealer said I must have N rated, is that true? My question is can I use any 285/30/18 with any name brand but not N rated? currently I have Pzero Rosso on my Kinesis K18R.

any help will be great. Whats the cheapest out there?

Why don't you just stick to the P-zero Rosso? They are a very good tire with decent tread life. I have them on my boxster.

Just changed to (non N rated) Toyo T1R's from the rec'd Bridgestones. Car was a gocart, now it's a Eldorado.

I guess it depends what you're willing to spend on the tires and how you drive. The P-zero Rosso are not cheap. My friends have them on their cars as well and they only last around 20K miles. Also, none of my friends autocross their cars. Heck, if you don't track and nor do you want to spend the money, go with Z-rated Yokos or Nittos which still have the low stiff sidewalls and nice ride quality. I had Yokohama AVS on my 300ZX TT and Mustang and they rode surprisingly well...though wet weather handling wasn't great.

Tire question

hi auto-xr, majority just regular street driving. The reason I ask is when I took the car to service, dealer mentioned my rear tires need to change soon. But he said I must get the N rated? I notice my current 4 tires are P-zero Rosso and they are quite expensive.

So my question basically is if I use other non N rated tires , would that be a problem for street driving? May be driving little hard on the street, making turns...etc. But not on the track. Will the non N rated ok for my 996 ?

Any reliable one that will last little long will be great.

Are you planning on changing all for or just the rears...DONT MIX TIRES, especially N rated and non N rated....best bet is to get the same rears and them swap out all 4 when they all need to be replaced....Here is a question I have for you...you have a 65k+ MSRP car, and you wanna skimp on the most important part, the part that connects it to road...

Tire Questions

Hi, newport996
I will just need to change the rear tires. I have decided to get a pair of P-zero Rosso. I totally understood your question. This is absolutely true that why would I spend little money on those cheap tires. I was just curious what dealer said to me "i must get the N rated". I also see lots of people driving the custom 996 with different name brand tires on it and wonder would that make a huge different. After I did some research and some are really cost less, but i am sure it will not give the same performance as the Pzero tires.
