Short-shift kit? Need quick response please!!!

Car is in service right now at dealer, so I have a short window to add in the short shift kit while car is being worked on... quote for part is around $400, and labor around $350. Again, I am not asking for advice on where to buy it (I know it can be found cheaper), just whether or not I should do it on my daily driver. Car also sees occassional track time.

I've played w/ the throw on a GT3RS and really like the notchy, mechanical feel... not sure if this is same kit (different gear box?).

Anyone have it in their 997 Turbo? Feedback please!!!

I had the dealer install mine after about a month of the stock shifter. Love the feel and shortened throw. Mine is a daily driver also and I do not have one regret. Go for it.

I would not hesitate to install it. My SSK will arrive this week and I can't wait to get it installed. $350 for install seems a little high. I think it is a 2 hour job.

Its a sports car, it needs the short throw, its not any more difficult to use than the standard shifter anyway. Go for it!

It will be notchy at first especially when cold but the more you use it, the less notchy it will be. I absolutely recommend it too.

Sweet - thx everyone for the sanity check here! OEM kit being installed today, so will be in the SSK club tomorrow - can't wait, don't know why I didnt do this from the start when I ordered... I think I was held off by the fact that the 997 shifter was already 20-30% short throw than the 996... most important aspect for me is the feel vs the actual travel of the lever... found that I really do love that mechanical, notchy feel.

Sounds great. Let us know how it turns out.

I am getting used to driving a manual again after many years with automatic transmissions. Is the ssk easier to learn?? What other benefits does it offer?

Sorry for the newb questions. Thanks for the help.
