Hernando is infamous around these parts
What do you mean? Do you mean in reference to launching a Manual TT?

Yes. When doing a normal launch from a stop light, once you let the clutch out all the way, what is the ideal RPM point/range that you should shift into second gear?

I typically shift right before redline, maybe 500rpms shy of redline, or right before. BTW if you want really quick launches, I would turn off the traction control, and hit between 3 and 4,000 rpm then let it go.

The car makes power all the way to the red, per Hernando thats the range to shift.

Wow. Then I am switching waaaay too early into second. I get nervous when the engine really starts to rev hard around 4000 RPM. It won't hurt the engine to push it to the redline in first gear???

I have another question about the manual transmission. Is it necessary to push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor each time you make a shift? I find that there is a range in the pedal - near the top - where the engine engages and if I push the clutch just past that point I can make very quick shifts whereas if I am always pushing it all the way to the floor I find it harder to match the revs. Will this hurt my clutch??

Any input is much appreciated.
