Installed B&M SS today...

I finally installed my B&M Short Shifter today. Took out alot of interior trim but was deff worth it. Gears are nice and snug. No slop. Here some pics of the install.

How long was the whole install and didn't you have to go under the car?

There is no under car work on the standard B&M (which we sell everyday for $199). There are under car shift components for other B&M and other brand shifters, but the standard is in-car only, and that's all you need.

Holy J*sus that's a lot of dash board innards. I didn't realize there were so much involved in the ssk installation.

I thought the same thing. Until it got serious. The whole center console comes out and all the trim in and around the shifter. It's a 1 hr. job. But most dealers charge you for a 2 hr job

It makes a big difference. 1st & 2nd is very close....My fav gear change is 3-4 its like 2 inches away from eachother lol...Overall its the best bang for the buck! Very smooth shifts. Its very stiff no slop.

I recommend it to every owner of a 997TT.....

If I'm not mistaken this option for newer 997TTs is always installed at the dealer even if you order it during your build, I dont believe they come from the factory with the short shifter anymore.

Can anyone confirm?

When I got my car last year, the SSk was factory installed.

It was removed and then mysteriously showed up for ordering again.

XCZ - Sport Shifter, my car was built Jan 24th, ordered some 8 months ago.

It's still a factory option for about $750. Where did you get the $1000 figure?

Oh a REAL motorsport SSK. What about a factory OEM SSK. Those cost $750 if ordered as a factory option. Heck, even if you got the same Porsche OEM SSK from your parts department and had them installed it should still come out to $750.
