The so called facelift 09 model with DFI will be available later this year. The usual appearance date for the introduction of subsequent year models is late summer of the previous year. It may be sooner, but I am both anxious and optimistic, since I have a deposit on one.

No offense, but this sounds like hogwash to me. Why would Porsche put out a revamped Turbo this summer to compete directly with the new GT2? That would be a big mistake from a marketing perspective. I wouldn't think they would debut a revamped Turbo until after the GT2 has been on the market a bit.

I would agree (and hope) the same. My TT is not even off the boat yet!

This is the information that has been given to me from pressing a local dealership . I have made a deposit on a 2009 997TT. I was given information that the 09 version with DFI will come out later this year. This of course is subject to change at the wim of Porsche.

I totally respect that and believe that is what they told you. But it kind of reminds me of how dealers took scores of deposits all over the country on the Mercedes SLK63 AMG and then it never came out. It was a huge disappointment for all of us who love the SLK model. It was simply disgraceful because we found out later that MB had never confirmed with them that the model was even going to be produced. Yet they took our money regardless. This resulted in a class action lawsuit against MBUSA and the dealers that was settled with hundreds of customers duped into putting money down to reserve one. Unfortunately, I was one of them. I was lucky because I didn't do anything rash like sell my SLK55 - but some people I know did. We got our money back eventually along with a discount certificate from MBUSA that could be used towards the purchase of another car. Cold comfort indeed. So I guess I am jaded. Unfortunately, some dealers are more than willing to take your deposit money without any type of confirmation regarding when the model is coming out or even if it will ever come out. I hope for your sake he is right though.

May I ask why you sold the 06 Gallardo?

You are correct. I should have worded my first post as tentively due out this summer; since anything can happen. I hope that more concrete information directly from my dealer comes sooner then later.

i was under the impression that porsche never facelifted turbos.
the turbo's new style usually was filtered down to the lesser models as it was with the 996's.

there will be mechanical upgrades but the look of the car will remain the same.

Outside of new LED tail lights and revamped headlamps this does seem to be the case thus far from the spy shots.

DFI and a possible reworked interior might be seen on 2009 units that arrive in the US in September '08.

Refashioned headlights, taillights, fascia and other minor tweaks are expected.
